shoulder pain

Princess

pretty boy
do any of you get shoulder (probably RC) pain after heavy benching?
I dislocated my left shoulder REALLY badly (tore all the soft tissue and couldn't even move it at all for weeks) a year ago in a fall and went to rehab for a few months. i think its actually stronger than my other one now.

i benched heavy yesterday (as you've all seen in my other thread. :) ) and now my right RC is achy.
think its just a normal thing? i'm not going to bench for another week and today is a day off anyway.

i'll ice it later.

Congratz on your Bench, I wish I could bench that much :)

I also get a little pain in the RC after a heavy chest day, I've found that a ton of warmup helps me to avoid the pain. The warmup sets don't seem to affect my max lifts as I usually take about 5-8 min after warm up to start my real lifts.

ok, thanks. i was hoping others feel this pain after they bench. i'm cautious of my shoulders since i hurt my other one.

what supplements are you taking ? are you running any GEAR ?

no gear, ever.
and ok, this is gonna get me yelled at, but i don't take much supps- which is stupid since i get a lot for free from a client of mine.
i try to remember to take glutamine, which helps, but i forget a lot and i am SURE i don't get enough protein but i'm starting to change that. and i barely drink water.

ok, i think i'll take some vitamins now. :)

glutamine is a must.. 15 - 20 gms per day.. BUT you should drink lots of water..

i LOVE glutamine and just got into a debate on the merits of it with someone who thought it didn't do anything for you, but i strongly disagree.
what i failed to mention was that i rarely remember to take it though. :)

I will start- i think i'll just keep it in my gymbag so i can mix it with some juice during my workout.
let everyone wonder what all my packages of white powder are (like chalk and glutamine). lol

it could just be you need some rest..heavy benching week after week will run you down..i just think you need to eat a litte better and remeber to stay hydrated.. :)

mmm. yeah, you're right, i know.
i did have tuna for lunch and i'll have chicken for dinner. but of course, thats it. lol
i'll have some water later.

my shoulder hurts more form a straight bar I use dumbells alot althought that is gonna change shortly when I start power lifting

make sure ur wamred up stretch it out even between sets might also want to do rc exercises if your not already doing them

Smallguy

It may be a torn rotator, or slight strain for going too deep down with heavy weight that your shoulders can't handle. I just got over an shoulder strain, i was relieved to find out it wasn't my rotator. I lay off the decline now because of the stress it puts on my shoulders

your RC is probably just really sore. It is very easy to injur so be careful. As it starts to feel better maybe you should train it it doesnt require tons of weight and the bennifits are awesome. I never have a problem withmy RC

It may be an imbalance in your the muscles in your shoulder vs those in the upper back/ rear delt.

That was my problem. Doing rear delt work with cables helped a lot.

I do a lot of lats and shrugs and i have a strong upper back, but not much rear delts.
thanks for the idea.

whats glutamine? i have never taken it. must not be a must. difference between PLers and BBers is counting all those supps and cals. we just eat. you bbers can count all that shit if you want. =0)

sug your shoulder hurting after shirted benches? or was it raw benching? if its sore after shirted benching there is a good chance that your shirt isnt fitted corectly.

oh, i don't do a thing like a bodybuilder.
powdered glutamine- you know who RDC is (crains)? i was his webmaster so i got a bunch of stuff for free. it majorly helps me stay doms free.
anyway, its hurting after shirted benching (i got 215. yay!!), but i did dumbells afterwards. maybe i tweaked it then. the benches are a little high for me- i have to drop the dumbells or risk hurting myself.

i have shoulder pain also. i tore my cuff in high school throwing a basketball. I just have to deal w/ it!

i'm trying to do better. blackbeard is helping me get in more protein, but the whole vitamin thing is annoying. :)
