Shoulders Problem/Question

Noxious

Unsung Hero
Recently I've lost alot of weight and gained a bit of muscle.
I was doing a 4x6 program for...well, too long. (About 20 weeks)
I always had big shoulders, it seems to be pretty much a trend in my family. As I lost the weight my chest/gut got smaller and my shoulders got bigger due to the increased training. Today at the gym my friend pointed out to me that my shoulders looked to be too far forward.

This probably isn't normal, and I'm just looking for ways to correct this?

Thank you,and again...sorry for the stupid question.

Do rear delt work. I had/have the same prob. and am working my ass off to correct it. Do reverse cable crossovers, bent over flies(not sure if thats what they're called, can never remember the name), deads also help a wee bit i think. Just work your front delts so much w/shoulders/bench, etc and give really no attention to rear delts. Just start trying to correct it and it will get better. Be patient. I feel your pain.

Use the Jay Cutler principle and bag any and all shoulder presses. You're getting enough on your chest day with inclines. Start doing raises exclusively on Delt day, especially rear delt flies (which should be your very first exercise) as the previous poster mentioned. Also consider upright rows. If you already have genetically large front delts, these raises should provide you everything you need.

stick with the shoulder press in your routine.

you probably need more back work in particular scapular retraction.

in other words, focus more on rowing--any kind

Good suggestions by all. I would also make sure to stretch out the pecs if you don't already do so.
