Cops at 2AM???, maybe they were on to you and opened the box themselves, came to you for a reaction when you least expected it (2 AM) and big dude was just being nice about it. Did his job and asked questions...(I'm sure he could tell by looking) and cut you a break. I doubt the neighbors found the box at 2AM!!!! Think about it. Just be smart and careful here on out.

DON't just reformat the hard drive, get rid of it

Really, you'd be best to reformat your hard drive and start over, but I'm guessing you aren't going to do that.

Hey, just to let you know, reformatting your hard drive still makes it to where the cops can get your stuff. I don't know if they are going to go through all that trouble to get the info back, but just lettin you know. If you are that worried then get rid of the hard drive.
