Some Anerstrozole Questions

1. Does Anerstrozole actually LOWER estrogen levels or just keep them from raising?
2. Before testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) my estro was 70. Trt is 200 cyp a week. And 500iu Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) 2x a week. I have been taking .5 anersto 2x a week. I have just been given the ok to bump to 3x a week. Think i should?
 
That is an excellent question, from what I read Anastrozole doesn't lower estro it just keeps it from rising..i believe the estro has to be metabolized. IMO There are a few stickys on ai's maybe you can find more info there.
 
Anastrozole(arimadex) is an Aromatase inhibitor (AI). (Aromatse inhibitor.) Meaning it inhibids androgens from aromatizing into estrogen. So yes it prevents actual rises of estrogen.

I would talk to ur doc first as u are his paitent, not mine. But I think arimadex should be dosed every other day. .25-.5 is the sweet spot from most individuals.
 
Ok ya i was confused as to wether it just stopped estro from raising or if it lowered what u already had
 
It will inhibit your testosterone from converting (aromatizing) into estrogen. Thereby lowering your estrogen levels.
 
So will it lower my estrogen levels i ready had? Like before Trt i was at 70. With anerstrozole on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) if i het bloods done again could the number be lower?

The short answer is ... yes. Like folks said, Anastrozole itself doesn't lower estro, it just keeps it from forming. So, it does not "destroy" existing estrogen. That being said, if you up your Anastrozole, your E levels will go down.

For example, my E level was almost 70 a month ago. So I upped my Anastrozole dose and now my E level is about 40. So I'm going to bump up the Anastrozole dose a little more and see if I can drop the E level a bit more. No need to "destroy" the existing estrogen in your blood, the levels will go down on their own. As for where the "extra" estrogen goes, I don't know. I guess the body uses it.

Your estro is high because tomuch of ur aas is aromatizng into estrogenn there for u got estrogen pumping thru ur veins because of that. So we use an Aromatase inhibitor (AI) to stop the gear from aromatizing. Thus lowering ur estrogen in ur bloof.

What can I say ... it does. I was at 70, upped the Aromatase inhibitor (AI) and now I'm at 40 (in one month with the new Aromatase inhibitor (AI) dose). I did not give it much thought. I just assumed it would go down and that I did not need to destroy the existing E in my blood stream. I will be upping the Aromatase inhibitor (AI) a bit and doing another blood test in a month ... my E level will be lower (probably around 30). The extra E goes away.

That being said, I'm not sure the same is true of hemoglobin levels. My current levels are a bit below 17. I will donate a pint of blood shortly to drop them a bit. I'm not so sure they will go down on their own, e.g., with a reduced testosterone dosage.

No, I was on TRT. My E got to 70 because I cut back a bit too far on my Aromatase inhibitor (AI). But I did a blood test within a month and upped the Aromatase inhibitor (AI) dose. I don't like to make big changes so I'm still working on getting the Aromatase inhibitor (AI) dose right. It's not so easy to get the dose right - especially when things are changing, e.g., dropping lots of body fat ... and adding lots of muscle. We just missed on the dose.

I think that is basically right. Like folks mentioned, some of the extra E gets metobolized. I'm not sure what the body does with it ... but it is necessary ... the body uses it for stuff. As folks mentioned, Anastrozole is an Aromatse inhibitor, it "inhibids androgens (like testoserone) from aromatizing (converting) into estrogen.

By the way, Anastrozole is only partially effective ... it only blocks like 80% of aromatization. Letrozole is like 95-97% effective. So from my perspective, Anastrozole is a little more forgiving in getting the dose right. The last thing you want to do is crash your E levels ... lots of things stop working correctly when this happens. So we definately want some E in the system. We just want to limit the aromatization process since we are introducing extra testosterone into the system ... without litereally destroying all of our E (which as I mentioned would be very bad).

I just noticed you also asked this question ... whether or not to bump up your Aromatase inhibitor (AI). So your doc or your testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) folks told you this. From my perspective, this is a pretty simple question ... it just depends on your E levels. Presumably, they said it's OK to bump up your Aromatase inhibitor (AI) since they checked your E levels and you are a little on the high side.

I basically take about 0.5 Anastrozole 2x per week and I need to up my Aromatase inhibitor (AI) dose a bit. Given your testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) dose (which is quite a bit higher than my current testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) dose), I'm not surprised they want to bump up your AI.

Yep, I'm with you. I'm not sure what my E levels were before TRT. I was hoping that if I dropped some body fat, I could cut back on the Aromatase inhibitor (AI). Not only to save the expense, but it's just better health-wise if you don't need the Aromatase inhibitor (AI). So I'm really lean now, but I still need the Aromatase inhibitor (AI). It's worth the expense so the E levels stay in check, so that's my current plan - the Aromatase inhibitor (AI) dose is getting increased.
