Starting TRT therapy on Testos

I'm a 34 yr old male with average testosterone of 269 and starting TRT therapy with 40 mg Testos gel daily. I'm deciding with my wife if we want another child. The Dr. said if I did he would start clomid. Does anyone have any experience with Clomid. Should I take it with the Testos gel or just the Clomid?

You would not take Clomid with testosterone. The Clomid would not be strong enough to overcome the HPTA suppression caused by exogenous testosterone.

You should also reconsider using a gel/cream. Most guys do not fair well on them. And there is a risk of transfer to your wife and kids. That would be very bad news for them. Most guys prefer injections. And they are a lot cheaper.

Read the Basic TRT Overview sticky thread in this forum for more info.

I thought you were already on TRT ?
Seems we all have something in common on here start tanking out in T in our mid-thirties.

No I've never been on. I had a few low tests and one at 385, so I had to convince my doctor by testing for two more months. He finally realized I was hypogonal. I wanted to try the pellets but he said he wanted to make sure I absorbed the test gel first. He said some people bodies don't absorb any. Have you ever used the pellets or heard about their effectiveness.

I would not get pellets. Expensive and painful. Look on YouTube to see videos of how pellets are implanted in your ass. Injections are very easy. We were all nervous for that first injection; but it gets quite easy and fast after that.

You also need to realize that doctors get compensated nicely by the pharmaceutical companies when they prescribe gels, you need to insist on injections, tell your doctor that he is putting your wife and kids at risk with gels. If you are wanting to have another child then you need to include HCG not clomid in your protocol.

Is the doc saying use gel OR Clomid? Because there are some people that take just Clomid for TRT and it does increase testosterone levels. But many guys don't like how they feel on Clomid. But it may be worth a try to see if you like it. And it would allow you to maintain your fertility.

Just keep in mind that it may not be a long-term option.

The Dr said I could just use Clomid if I wanted to stay fertile instead of the gel. He gave me the gel for now but could switch me to Clomid if I wanted but then I would stop the gel. We are trying for a baby now and the Doc says sperm are on a 72 day cycle so the gel won't do anything now, but will slow production of sperm in about 10 weeks.

I would not get on exogenous testosterone only to go off it about 72 days later. Exogenous testosterone shuts down your endogenous testosterone. You would have to go through the process of turning your endogenous testosterone back on.
