Steroid Misconceptions!

How many times have you heard, "Well if I was on steroids, I'd be that big, too" or "When your on juice you can eat whatever you want and not get fat!" I also hear, "That dude is so ripped, he must be on something!"

Steroid misconceptions piss me off! So many ignorant people in the gym think that if they took a cycle of gear they would look like Dorian Yates. Even in my thread poll, how big are your arms?" People are writing 16," but I never took steroids before. Are they thinking that doing a couple of cycles is going to give them 20" guns?

Do to my father being a pro-bodybuilder back in the day, I started lifting weights regularly in grade school. Over 20 years! I am wise enough to know that the guys you see in "the magazines" no matter how much shit they are on, they still have one in a million genetics, with a lot of years of hard work behind them. I also know that if you eat whatever you want on gear, you'll still gain bodyfat with muscle.

FOR YOU NOVICES: Don't think by taking a cycle you are going to turn from Pee Wee Herman into a Pro-Bodybuilder. Steroids alone, is not the easy way out. There is no easy out to become a monster! It takes years of very hard work and discipline!!!!!!!!

...plugging away, day after day, month after month, year after year.......

I am intimately disturbed by people who won't eat or train correctly because they say "I don't want to get too big." Ignorance is bothersome, especially when your knowledge is disregarded.

At the same time you have to realize that these misconceptions are evident even in the community of those who do actually use steroids.
Examples wold be people thinking they have to increase doses each cycle, staying on longer is better, and so on.

so what your sayin is that when i do my cycle of 10 mg dbol a day for one year.....I wont get huge! But I paid like 3 bucks a pill for this stuff!

nice post dude.....really ...i hear that shit all the fucking time and im sick of it......

I am going to second Silverback. I just got into a seriously heated debate about this on another forum.... lots of flaming involved... while I agree that juicing alone will not make a someone large...there is no doubt in my mind that steroids are the X factor when it comes to efficiency in recovery and training to maximize growth above and beyond what you could ever accomplish naturally.

I think one huge myth about steroids is that using steroids is equitable to 10% of the growth one achieves while on it. How many times has it been said.. it is 90% effort and 10% steroids. To me that is the biggest load of BS I have ever heard. What that means is if the average user gains 20lbs of LBM while juicing on a 13 week cycle.. he is saying that if he did not juice he still would have gained 18lbs of LBM using the same training routine and an nutrition plan (under the premise of 10% gear/90% effort).. and that steroid use amounts to only 2lbs of muscle gain... if that were the case why bother juicing?

But I agree.. if you don't work for your gains, natural or not.. you won't get them.

Ironically, I got my arms up from 16" to 18.5", naturally, over a period of about a year and a half, before my first cycle. I'm almost through with my second cycle, and they're still about 18.5/18.6" on a good day.

Wow I hadn't heard that 10% thing in years, I thought that myth was dispelled. Does anyone remember the you only keep 10% of your gain myth. I think that one was before nolva and clomid.

Right on, bro.
There is that conception out there that Anabolic Androgenic Steroids (AAS) are the easy way out. I've never worked out as hard in my life as since my first cycle. Maybe Anabolic Androgenic Steroids (AAS) help with the intensity, but the hours and the effort are still put in bu the individual person, and it's hard work. The diet part's nothing to sneeze at either!

No. I don't juice. But within my circle of friends there is a lot of steroid use. Right now I have 4 friends going through their 6th cycle in the last three years. I may have not personally used steroids, but my close association with people who have or do provides me all the information I need to make my argument.

Most people in society have no idea the dedication it takes to look good, big or cut.

Kiss your favorite foods good bye, bust ass pushing weight, live a balanced lifestyle, sleep. It's not all steroids as we all know so well.

But the juice is a phenomonon.

I'm so thankful it's been invented

There is this guy that works out at the gym I go to and he has a shirt that says"True strength comes from the heart not the needle!" Thing I think is funny is the guy is like 5'8" and weighs probably 270lbs at 20+ bodyfat %. And its like yeah but your heart isn't strong enough to carry your big ass around. I think its kinda ballsy to wear a shirt like that and kinda smack in the face all the AS users. I haven't seen one guy in the gym with a " Test is the best!" shirt.

clubfootedmidget....Yes, you are right....steroids make up more of the equation than people verbally express. HOWEVER, we mention that juice is only 10% of the equation more for beginners. I certainly don't want to see a newbie inject 2 grams of test a week and drink all the time...party all night, never sleep and hardly get to the gym...then he wonders....what the hell is this stuff??? It is much better for all beginners (as we all once were) to start with less juice and concentrate more on training...and as they progress with knowledge of juice and training and eating, etc....then they can make that judgment on their own.

Although, I still firmly believe that training, eating, and sleeping right are all key factors and together make 75% of your gains in a cycle....and the juice only 25% or so.

by the way, this is in no way a flame or anything....just my view on your opinion.

I don't think your flaming me at all.

But if 75% of the gains can be attributed to work, if you were to gain 20lbs in a cycle you are saying that you could grow 15lbs during the same length of time training without A.S.?
