It comes down to reasonable and responsible use rather than abuse. It's a typical scare tactic article by a newspaper (and media in general) who thrive on chaos, doom, and ever pending catastrophes. They found ten guys who appear to have gone off the deep end of abuse, but how many people that you have personally known of, have died or been made very ill due to cigarettes and/or alcohol, yet those are perfectly legal and accepted? Also, abuse of painkiller is a big factor. What about all the people who eat themselves into obesity and diabetes? Get monitored by a doc, watch your diet and blood pressure, use reasonable dosages, for reasonable periods of time and you will be healthier than most people.
I did enjoy reading the post. I didn't know that's why Flex had retired since I don't follow the sport like I did when I was young. I do remember Don Long had a similar issue.
