i just wanted to dicuss the different ways everyone here trains when their goal is to gain strength ie. # or reps/sets time inbetween sets whether you super set or 5x5, frequency of training, training to failure???? lets hear it

for me i have been supersetting
i find 3 sets increacing weight every set getting 5 reps each set, this is not to failure.

i tend to workout each muscle group once every 4 days.

larger muscle groups train once every 5 days or so, progressive poundage.6-8 reps
tweak routine every 6 weeks

That's on target there. At least it has worked for me. Simple progression of compound exercise's with leaving 1-2 rep's in the tank. Increase weight slowly every week, cruise week 5. Ive been out of the gym for about 4 month's now due to a nasty wreck on super bowl sunday. I watched the game from my hospital bed whil it was flickering, talk about as bitch.

However for about a yr of being consistent on a routine like the 5 3 1 or one that was designed for me by a board member, I couldn't believe the difference I saw. Getting stronger every week helped promote growth and loose BF% for me. Can't wait to start back up next week.

this 5 3 1 routine you talk about is that refering to your rep number??

the only strength training i have done is the progression and found it has worked pretty good up untill now. As we all know every time we hit a wall we have to change something to over come it
