i need to thicken up my arms, specifically in the upper biceps area that connects to the front delt, and touches the pecs (when big enough) WHAT KIND of biceps exercise should i concentrate on ?

isolating just that part of the bicep is extremely hard . heavy weight done with control adds mass . stick to heavy basics like barbell curls and cambered curls and keep the reps in the 5-8 range

pullups will really get your biceps working (narrow underhand grip). having said that, what are your stats? i have yet to see a 250+ guy who didn't have big arms - the point being that trying to isolate your bicep isn't going to get it any bigger without your whole body growing. even if you gain 5lbs of muscle, the bigger muscles are going to account for most of that weight with very negligible amount settling on your arms. now gain 20-30 lbs and i can guarantee you, you will notice a big difference in your arm size.

true. im not anywhere near that big -170lbs- (dont give me anyshit please, i dotn weigh much but im in really good shape), but there are parts of my body that just dont seem to to develop like the rest of my body. my upper biceps, and my traps/middle delts dont match the rest of my body, which is developing normally. genetics i guess. ive recently changed my diet drastically to increase my calorie intake

what is your target weight at the moment? genetics is a part of it, but maximizing your entire body is pretty much the only way you can maximize the lagging parts as well. i've been through this stage myself, having been at 130 lbs once and i'm now at 228 (i'm 5ft10). i had "lagging pecs and arms" myself, but nearly 100lbs of wt increase has fixed that! this is the bitter truth. just consider that there was a magic exercise to improve arms. don't you think then that every average gymrat would then work only that exercise and would sport 20" arms on 140lb geek frames? obviously it just isn't that simple.

target weight is 185lbs. 15 lbs natuarlly, and then at end of year, ill run a test cycle to reward myself if i finish my goal.

when i flex, my front delt pops on nice, and so does my rear delt. my middle delt just looks like a limp bridge between them, same as my upper bicep that closes teh gap between my delt and my inner lower tricep.

im EATING about 3500-ish calls a day now(healthy diet), i plan to increase to 4500-ish calls in about a week or 2 once i get used to gradually cramming more food down my throat.

is that enough calories?

this is a nice thread in which a bro called madcow2 addresses self-image concerns. BTW madcow is an ex powerlifter/olympic lifter.

fyi, the bicep contacts top to bottom, I dont know how you could plan to get the upper tie in to thicken without putting stress on the whole muscle, cause the whole thing to grow.

Your shape and tie-ins are 100% genetic. You cant really hope to shape your muscles regardless of the lifts you perform. Thats why some pro's have ugly physiques, some dont. If you could shape the muscle to your liking this whole BB thing would be a lot more prevelant.

Agree. I was 134 lbs 5'8 some time ago and my arms were smaller than my wife's. Now I'm 177 and those 43 extra lbs have helped a lot on overall size, including ARMS. They are still small, but adding another 20 lbs will help again.
I've never seen small persons (<190 lbs) have really big arms.
