Taurine supplementation , not needed , waste of money?

From reading this piece on taurine : http://www.nutricionhospitalaria.com/pdf/3337.pdf , it appears supplementation is not needed unless you are deficient and if you are eating the typical BB diet that is high protein you shouldnt be deficient.

Taken from conclusion ........the human body has a limited
capacity to synthesise taurine. Altogether, there is
enough data to support taurine as an essential amino
acid in neonatology and probably a conditionally essential
amino acid in some adult syndromes.

I don't think most of the guys here are using Taurine as a daily supplement. I think it is being used because many have found it help with painful "Pumps" while running AAS.

Only a waste until you get ab and back pumps at the same time. Then you can't choke it down fast enough. I honestly believe taurine is greatly underrated as a supplement.

Note: Those concentrations are in milligrams per 100g of food. As REALLY bad pumps often require GRAMS of taurine, it would be pretty expensive to try to meet the needs by whole food sources alone. ;)

(some drugs deplete taurine, like clenbuterol)

Yep, Taurine is a staple on any Tren or Var cycle for me.... for the pumps as previously mentioned!

4g seems to dull the pain!

Yes I would def say it helps with orals and back pumps.... but what I found interesting was that the study says that...the human body has a limited
capacity to synthesise taurine. .... So my question is..... 1) does supplementing with it allow you to go beyond the level of what your body can synthesise? I dont think that was ever answered by the research.

The 4 g of taurine a day amount mentioned by Ben is pretty much the standard. But I have taken 2g and felt fine with back pumps.

Being able to synthesize taurine from raw materials is why it's not classified as an essential amino acid. However, depending on needs - supplementation is necessary to often see the benefits from surpassing said limits. Yes, supplentation allows you to build higher levels in the body than otherwise possible.

I'm on my phone, so I don't have a great study to back me up here, but I'm sure a quick Google search will back me up. As we are all different in not only demands, but our metabolic processes, it's very easy to see why different amounts will be needed from person to person. ;)

I think taurine was being looked into for CHF treatment and even vascular protective benefits, but I honestly haven't kept up to date on the studies.

Hope that answers your question. :)
