TRT for years, sudden hair loss
I've been on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) for about 3 years as a result of long-term (legit) opiate use, which interferes with the whole GnRH, LH and FSH signalling pathways.
For about the last 3 months I've been really irritable, agitated, moody, and my hair has REALLY thinned out, even though I've made it to 45 with no previous hair loss and there's none in my family.
So, I went off and got my levels checked and my Total Serum T was 1311 ng/dL on a lab normal range of 348-1197. I used to run around 500, which was just right, and have not changed the dose or injection schedule. We did note my PSA was bouncing around this fall, from 0.6 to 4.3 and back again.
Thus I really have two questions I'm hoping you can shed some sage-like wisdom on:
1) Would several months at this level cause hair problems? They did not check DHT, and I'm still waiting on estradiol, Free T and DHEA.
2) If my T levels have caused it, does it come back when your T levels (and DHT) come back to normal? Or is it a one-way street?
Thanks!
