TRT high Hematocrit

I been on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) test Cyp 100mg weekly, for 12 weeks so far. My lab work showed my Hemotocrit to be high at 54.3 (H-52%). My DR told me to continue the testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) and return in 3 months to run blood work again. He didn't mention anything about the high Hematocrit. I am worried that if I continue for another 3 months it will bring my hematocrit levels even higher. Any advice would be appreciated.

The Red Cross lets you donate blood every 8 weeks so I have done that for over a year now. No issues, Hemotocrit is always at a good level.

I heard that if the hematocrit is over 50% they wont let you donate... i'm at 54.3 .... I may have to ask my doc...

I was over 50% when i donated to the Red Cross last month...they didn't have an issue with it. Their website only has minimum values for RBC #'s...You should be good to go to donate.

Red Cross only checks hemoglobin and only up to 19.0 after that their machine just shows dashes. I have been in that range and they still took my blood, no problem

I don't bother telling them about testosterone replacement therapy (TRT). And they still take the blood with high hemocrit. I have donated 6 tmies in the last year and my hemocrit went from 54% to averaging 47%. They will have a questionaire for you but it's mostly about travel and illicit drug use etc.

I went to donate blood today and I was rejected because I traveled outside of the US on vacation to a resort. The guy told me that anyone who traveled outside of the country must wait 1 year because of possible malaria outbreak. Smh

Go to another donation center and LIE!!!!!! They asked me the same damn thing. I had been to Mexico, but I told them I hadnt been out of the country. Donated blood and lowered my Hematocrit by 2 points.

My testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) Doctor told me that there are places other than Red Cross that take blood and suggested that I might go to one of those places in between visits to the Red Cross, but we don't have any of those where I live. You might check around and see what other blood donation places you have and do what willnorthwest suggested!

Life source and heartland are two others we have in my area. When they say wow your high, I just say Im on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) and couldn't fit in a donation sooner to get it down. I know heartland does a maxium cut off too though. I know heartland will do the free whatever they call the extra donations to keep it down.

a double RBC draw will drop it more but you have to wait longer to go again.

You can tell them your on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) it is within the guidelines. If you have used illegal AAS then they will deny on the chance that you used a dirty needle. If you are on doctor prescribed you are good to go, unless your blood is thick as molasses of course :) If thats the case you can get and pay for a phlebotomy.
