So I was wondering why there was a warning label for some of the supplements I wanted to add to my pre-workout. In particular because I use anti-depressants (Had sever anxiety disorder almost 12 years ago, gone now but the body is still addicted to the meds, slowly reducing the meds). I tried contacting several companies for information on why there was a warning label, what literature there was that I could read to see if it applies to me, or if it's just a big blanket statement to cover their asses completely from people who suffer from side-effects etc.
Of all the companies, only iForce Nutrition responded. While they made it clear that they couldn't give out any medical advice, they said that the reason for the warning label was that Agmatine Sulfate breaks the blood brain barrier, and interacts with the brain. It can antagonize the NMDA receptor which leads to many beneficial aspects such as mood boost and hormonal modulation.
So, now that I got that information, I'm looking to go more in-depth and see exactly what would happen if it interacted with SSRIs. My doctor was clueless as to why any 'supplement' would have such a warning label. I'll be giving him this information and hopefully he can comment again.
Anyone else out there use SSRIs and supplements like these?
Currently on Mirtarzapine and Fluvoxamine. Mirtarzapine makes me hungry...which sucks when trying to lose bf%
