throwing away syringes

I used to use the shoe box method. all my pins come individually wraped. After use I would put the cap back on, stick back in the wrapper and wrap in tape, then store in shoe box. Then one day my wife (gf at the time) happen to stumble on a full shoe box worth of stabbers. Let's just say my shit was in the drive way when I got home from work! I realized from that point, no need to keep any evidence laying around. Now after taping them up in the wraper I pop them into a empty water bottle every time I use one. But I didn't realize there was some one at the dump seperating trash. I might have to re-think this a little.

contact the dept. of sanitation. they should supply you with a regulation card, or at least steer you in the right direction.

not all facilities operate in this way, but theres no need to endanger someone else if they do.

i also stack up old pins and have the fear of them being discovered by a loved one. i disposed of them since my last cycle, but there was a shitload of them (EOD shots for 12 weeks, plus a few extra). i dumped them at a local medical first care facitlity. but when i dropped them off, they had one hell of a look on their faces.

I would think by putting them in a plastic bottle, they would more apt to be seperated at the dump becasue of recycling purposes is this correct hammer?

the operations in my neighborhood have seperate collections for plastic/metal/newspaper, which is completley seperate from garbage pickup. they are dumped in different facilities.

the garbage is burned in a waste-to-energy conversion plant after undergoing a seperation process, which I believe is done mechanically, using water and density differences w/ non-combustible metals sinking. (ie syringes would float and be burned)

the recycling however is sorted in a mass facility. there are seperate locales for each recyclable (aluminum, newspaper, and plastic) but before each material is processed they are sorted and checked by hand (not every can/bottle, but there is human involvement in the process)

it completely depends on your local laws and collection protocol.

How about placing them in a pop can or beer can..then crush the can and throw it in the trash... not the recycle bin....

Syringe disposal

Aloha,

As a diabetic and former Texan and current Alabama citizen - the law provides for sanitary syringe disposal (the syringes are to be placed inside a tough, child-proof plastic container.) In Texas I was able to buy these containers from pharmacies at a reduced rate due to my syringe scrips. The main thing is to ensure they get to the landfill without poking anyone.

i agree. we can do what ever we want to ourselves, but endangering innocent hard working ppl (such as myself hehe) is just not cool. i dont care if you wanna shoot heroine or test, but at least make an effort, is all I ask.

im sure there are some who wont be bothered, but until your lil bro gets poked by a needle some dickbag dropped on the street, or in a field near a landfill, or someother godforasken circumstance involving yourself or loved one, you'll understand then.

I would think you could call a pharmacy and ask them what the best way to dispose of insulin needles or growth I am sure they would have an answer for you.

I brown paper bag mine for each month and then when my protien runs own i throw them inside, give it a tape and toss it

there must be somewhere to dump them no questions asked. Where do the junkies dispose of them that we give clean needles to to prevent the spread of aids?

If you find a hospital with an emergency center within it... drive around the whole facility. You will find an outdoor area (most of the time) with bio-hazard bins. Now I know this sounds bad, but this is what I do... Once my sharps contaner is full, I take 2 minute epoxy and seal the lid to the container opening. I then drive to this outdoor area at the nearby hospital to my home and toss the sharps container over the 15 foot barbed wire fence. The clean up crew (dressed in protective gear) will nonchalantly pick up the container and toss it into the bio-bins. I witnessed this.

If I walk it in, they want to charge me $50 disposal fee. Screw that. I use the "chuck it over the bio-fence" method.
