Total Test 380ng/dl A Decent Enough Indicator to further investigate?

I am 22 years old and went in to get my levels check blood and such. I havent been feeling very great for months, weak, always tired, cant sleep etc so I asked for a full hormone panel. The doc said ok yea sure we can do that. Got home and noticed all he checked off was Total testosterone AM and TSH. My total test came back as 380ng/dl which seems to be very low for my age and the TSH at 3.0 with a range of 0.2-4.0. I am booking an appointment with my actual GP first to get all my other hormones checked, estradiol etc. Does this seem like a level at my age that would warrant TRT? I live in Canada which is why the doc at the walk in wouldnt give me a full panel at first I assume.

Yes i understand they are for life. I realize the constant blood donations, monitoring, lifestyle changes etc. But i have no problem with it as long as it makes me feel better.
Bloods were done at 8am

whats your diet been like in the last year? are you on antidepressants or any other medication? I just want all other possibilities checked before you proceed. Just my 2 cents worth.

You should first verify that something else isn't causing your symptoms. One culprit is low vitamin d levels. Get those checked.

Can you provide reference ranges from your test?
When were the bloods pulled (what time)?

You'll have a hard time getting a doc to put you on TRT at age 22 with your levels in range, even though they're low, especially for your age.

There are other option to explore if you are hypogonadal and need treatment. Read up in the TRT section.

As Milton stated- TRT is for life and 50+ years married to the needle can get old.

Any prior testosterone use in the past? Alcohol use? Like others said other meds? Sleep apnea test yet?

Man at 22 I'd try everything else to try and raise my levels before I went the TRT route. I'd also take more than one test to determine an average. You could have a good month, sleeping well, eating well, etc and show much more favorable results. Try changing lifestyle and diet changes first.

Diet is very clean lots of protein carbs healthy fats. Take all my vitamins a through e multivitamin daily. Workout cardio, still make progress in the gym. 6'0" 210 had bf checked the other day and was 13% give or take a bit for error. Dont feel as strong as i used to years ago. My absolute strength is going up but relatively i dont have much energy and feel weaker then i did previously. My feeling of low t had mostly how i feel mentally but i do feel physically weaker. No previous AAS use. Alcohol is occasional once a month probably less. Was tested for sleep apnea twice and came back fine. Never any meds other than accutane for 8 months when i was 15 and 12 months when i was 16 at 40mg i believe? Thought it was 80 but that seems high. Did put liver and kidney values dangerously bad though. And bloods were pulled at 830am on a weekend after a solid night sleep. And Im in canada so was measured in nmol/L originally. I came back at 13.8nmol/L with a range of 10.8-39.8. Never taken any antidepressents or anxiety meds. Feel its better to deal with it than take meds to bandaid something if there is an underlying issue. Only other thing i can think of is i was on concerta for maybe a few months in junior high or high school when i was 15-16 but made me lose weight so i quit that never anything since. Open to alternatives but tried different things and nothing seemed to change the value so just dont wanna waste more time if TRT is what is needed to fix how I feel.

TSH was 3.0nmol/L with a range of 0.2-4.0.
Thats all the testing i currently have. Have an appointment with my GP friday to hopefully get more in depth testing. Free test, Lh, fsh, estradiol and everything.

Sounds good I will ask for all of those when i go to my GP. Most likely just gunna ask for a referral to an endo. I think thats easier then dealing with a gp although my gp is fairly knowledgable for a gp. Seems to know what she is talking about so well see what she says.

Its gonna be tough. I would search the forums and try to get a recommendation from someone there that has found a decent doc that understands TRT. Not many up there but there are a few, from what I have heard from guys over the years.

If you can't get a direct referral then a urologist is your best bet.

Hope that helps.

Sounds good. Would you say to just start a new thread asking for anyone with a good trt doc in edmonton, alberta, canada?

Well went to the doc and said my testosterone is within range so she is ruling that out and no reason to further check anything. Then went on to say all my symptons are caused by depression and anxiety and prescribed me 10mg of cipralex and that will fix everthing apparently.

Treating the illness instead of finding the cause, shes a piece of work. find a new doc. The older the better as young docs these days have their heads up their rear and just know how to write scripts to get that money.
