Total vs. Free Testosterone

I have a set of blood work results that look like this:

Total test: 919ng/dL (range 250 - 1100)
Free test: 257 pg/mL (range 30 - 135)

The total is toward the high end of the range, but still well within the normal range. The free test is far outside the normal range, almost twice the normal maximum.

Why such a divergence? Since total test and free test are related, I would have expected them to be similar relative to their respective ranges.

What's your SHBG... I would say it is low.

I was not taking an AI. I have never had shbg tested. I suppose shbg could be low.

Before starting TRT, my total test was 275, near the bottom of the range and my free test was 43, also near the bottonm of the range. Now total is still in range, but free test is off the charts. What gives?

Just enjoy it. Lots of T available to be used by your muscles. Or get your SHBG checked out if it really bothers you.
