Training ?

We go to lawyers for advice but we spend years learning the right way to train. A lot is hit and miss. Are there any professional classes you can take? Like a seminar? Most personal trainers around are bogus half nimwits themelves it seems.

Nope, its true most personal trainers are fucking morons. At my gym we have 12 trainers. I would feel comfortable with only 2-3 of them with any clients. The rest have no practical experience beside these dime a dozen PT courses. AS far as courses you can take, look into your local PT organization, they will usually have a list of upcoming seminars or workshops that you can attend.

I've been lookin around for over a year now on courses to become a personal trainer, and i finally found one that's pretty decent, and now i'm just waiting on the results of passing or not, then i gotta send in and get my certificate. But honestly, pretty much EVERY gym around here, if there's 10 PT's working there, only 2 of them at most are any good. It's SO easy to get your certificate it's unreal.
I ran into an old friend at the gym the other day and we were talkin about how easy it is to get the cert. He told me a guy he went to high school with decided to start working out, and he was taking all kinds of supplements right away, and about 3 or 4 months later, the guy was like "I got my personal training certificate"... think about that. Someone who's VERY new to working out, is a certified personal trainer, and he's in high school...

If your trying to find a decent personal trainer, LOOK AROUND!!! Don't just pick them at random, think of it as shopping, and find out from their clients how their results are coming. And the first sign of a bad personal trainer, in my opinion, is if they are out of shape... unless they've just been through an injury, otherwise, they can't be that motivating either if they can't even motivate themselves to work out.

Good luck in your search.

OK then,I guess..I have my own personal trainer,so i'm not usually listening to much advice given to me from people working at the gyms.

Gotta talk to people who have accomplished a lot. If you're a bb'er, try to hook up with some guys who've been there and done that.

U create youre own way in training, something that works for someone might be totally fucked up for u. If everything worked for everybody u would se evrybody diong the same things wouldn´t u? :)
Own experiance is the key in this sport.

99.99999999999999999999% of personal trainers are idiots. They cause far more damage then most people realize. Many trainers put clients on downright dangerous routines.

Yes some trainers are amazing. But most of the guys that work at local gyms are FOOLS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Skinny, wimpy, moronic, spandex clad, pansy-ass fools that have no place in a REAL gym.

Well this guy is a genius. Your right man. Thanks for the great info Ill start to listen you sound like you know what your talking about. Your mom must be real proud.

If your looking for a seminar check out Ian King he is supposed to be the one. He has been hired all over the world to be a strength coach. His seminars go from like 3 or 400$ a couple hours upto like $2600 for a couple days.

(NWATHLETICS OK then,I guess..I have my own personal trainer,so i'm not usually listening to much advice given to me from people working at the gyms. )You shouldnt need him though I think he could learn from you however....:)

HEY NWATHLETICS this is from one your post before maybe you should read it again and see how smart some trainers are. Maybe you should listen :)

Great quote there, my personal trainer is actually my cousin. He has a very well organized gym at his house we use. He's really big and actually is nearing a competition for bodybuilding. He knows what he's doin'. Ofcourse, not everything works for me and I have to tweak with it a little bit, but for the most part it's fine.

And god forbid someone asks an honest question about weight training in a training forum. Especially on lift as contraversal as deadlifts.

I had nothing against you Tryn. And I still don't, and unless you're 15 and take critiques so offensively, then you need to grow up and mature some more.

Ivé said it before and I´ll say it again, The more you learn about this sport the more you realise how little you actually know.
