trap excersize?

They do seem to work for some, but i rarely see anyones traps growing, that is until they start lifting big weights, usually deads. My old training partner did heavy shrugs for years, he had abosolutely no trap development, about three or four months of deadlifting every week, and his shoulders and traps had a completely different shape to them.
