Traps?

Ok, i usually dont do shrugs and only rely on deads for my traps but I have a hernia thats been flaring up every time i do deads so i think im going to be dropping deads from my routine.

If shrugs are my only trap exercise, how often would you recommend doing them? Im on a 5 day split.
 
Train with back. Be creative. Don't limit exercises to just shrugs. Traps should be tortured (trained) with variety like everything
else. Once a week should be good with
everything moving in the right direction..
