For those that don't know who Travis Mash is, he is pound for pound one of the strongest people on the planet. A couple days ago PullinBig posted about what Travis did when they did a day of training together. I also read Travis's training logs so while I know some days he does, more, it looks like what he does very frequently with his training.
For simplicty purposes, we will not calculate warm-ups
555x1 bottom up zercher.
700x1 dead from floor
3x5reps GHR with 25#added weight
abs
truck pull (this was our idea, he normally does sled work)
1255 lbs TOTAL tonage for first two lifts.
I will use bodyweight for glute/hams + 25, I don't know what he weighed that day, but will guess at 245, so we have 245 x 5 = 1225 x 3675
I will not include the truck pulling, as he normally does sled work.
So.......the total is....4850
And that is for the BULK of the bodies musclature, not the small body-parts.
Lets comare that to joe average doing a chest workout ALONE, not even including shoulders/tri
Chest
Barbell bench press 250 x 5 x 3 = 3750
Incline Bench 205 x 6 x 3 = 3690
Fly 150 x 8 x 3 = 3600
So mr chest guys tonnage for the day BEFORE ANY OTHER BP IS WOKED is 7440 Vs Travis's 4850
And I realize that we are talking apples vs orabges here in a lot of respects. But we are also talking apples vs oranges in progress. Travis keeps kicking ass, most lifters get their ass kicked.
And yes, I realize that doing nothing but singles is a bad idea for most BB'ers. But, maybe it will give some of you an idea of your workouts metabolic costs and the inspiration to do a bit less
