Try a Re-Start before starting TRT?

Here is my blood work:

ESTRADIOL (7.6 - 42.6 pg/mL) 32.8
PROLACTIN (4.0 - 15.2 ng/mL) 12.4
FSH (1.5 - 12.4 mIU/mL) 12.1
LH (1.7 - 8.6 mIU/mL) 8.1
TESTOSTERONE (348 - 1197 ng/dL) 340
Testosterone Free (6.8 - 21.5 pg/mL) 12.4

I posted here a while ago and ended up having a prostrate biopsy which came back negative. My Urologist prescribed a 10ml bottle of testosterone cypionate. ($45 from CVS with my insurance- no issues at all) I picked it up yesterday. Something made me hesitate injecting.

I am wondering if I could/should try a re-start protocol first.

I guess I am wondering what the ROOT issue if...meaning why is my testicle broken and can I get it to work again?

If I tried to 'kickstart" my testicle and that failed, then I would be comfortable being on TRT the rest of my life.

Since my urologist never mentioned any 'restart' protocol, I presume this is a foreign idea to him.

Anyone have good luck with a restart protocol?

A restart looks very unlikely for you. You appear to have primary hypogonadism.

You would have to identify and correct whatever this issue is with your testicles.

A restart with Clomid works by getting your pituitary to produce more LH. LH tells your testicles to produce more testosterone. You already have a strong LH signal being sent to your testicles. Turning the "volume" up on that signal is not going to get your testicles to produce more in your case. Restarts are only an option when you have Primary Hypogonadism.

That isn't to say there is no hope for you. There sometimes are issues that can be causing your testicles to not function optimally. A urologist can help you determine if anything can be done.

Have you read the Basic TRT Overview Sticky thread in this forum? It covers some of this.

Any steroid use in the past?
How old r u?
What did you do when you said you tried to "kickstart" your testicles?
What strength is your Test in 5 or 10 ml vial?

Hey Mega: Yep, read the sticky. However, what you state sounds logical. I only have one testical due to cancer when I was 22. Now 43yrs old. To be honest, one of my biggest reasons for hesitating is that I'm a huge weenie when it comes to needles. BUT, my girlfriend said she will do injections for me. This is a huge relief.

APOLLO: Yes, I lived in Thailand for a few months when I was 30 and did Test Cypionate. As to the exact dosage, I'm not sure. I believe I was very conservative and did just 250mg/week for a couple months with clomid towards the end of the cycle. Again, I used multiple sources from the internet a far as clomid dosage. I did break out with some bad acne, but didn't have any other side effects. I was too stupid to get any blood tests. I felt normal up to my late 30's. I'd say 40yrs is when I started feeling symptoms of low T.

I'm 43yrs old now.

I didn't do anything to kickstart my testicle (I have ONE testicle) I was speculating.

I have the Watson 200mg/1ML

I find it odd that they prescribed it as 200mg every 2 weeks, AND gave me 1 refill. 5mos of "medicine" with a refill? Weird.

My Urologist may have a lot of guys on androgel, but I think none on shots.

The nurse said he wanted me to have testosterone checked in 3 months. I thought that was excessive so i suggested 2 months. That was fine and she sent me the lab work. I expected a decent panel of labs. There was literally one test: TESTOSTERONE. ?!?!

Obviously, I'm going to ask that they throw at least a few more things on there.

I'm now good with starting TRT since my GF will help me out and knowing a restart doesn't make sense in my case. It also seems my Urologist isn't well schooled in TRT so I'm not about to go on a whole restart journey which seems expensive and frustrating as well as futile in my case.

Girlfriends come and go. TRT is for life. Learn how to inject yourself. None of us like needles and the first time was scary for every one of us. But it truly is easy and will become second nature for you. Man up!
