Weak grip strength on deadlifts!

spiderpig

I'm not a bodybuilder!
My hands just cannot keep up anymore, I'm ripping them to shreds!

Does chalk make it any easier and is it worth buying for deadlifting? I use straps and it's a piece of cake on my hands but when doing it raw my hands get really fu**ed up!

My hands are pretty small & I would love to improve my grip strength any tips would be nice!

Chalk helps a bit, but you're still going to get some really f'ed up calluses that will tear open on occasion. There are a couple exercises you can do to increase hand strength, but I just prefer to keep doing deads and let the weak link the chain determine my limits. They WILL get stronger over time.

The best advice comes from Ed Coan ad Louie Simmons...and they say the same thing: Train the fingers to hold the bar by holding a bar. Do not train the forearms because it makes the hands fatter and much less likely to be able to fully grasp the bar. Plus working the forearms will give you carpal tunnel...

Chalk is a miracle worker man. If you have never used it, try it once and you will stand in awe of how much you can hold versus your hand alone.

Hope this helps.

Yes, at $10 for a five year supply, chalk is worth buying. Haha. It's not magic, but it keeps your hands completely dry so there's no moisture-induced slippage to worry about.

You video your lifts? Quite often grip gets the blame when it's really something else breaking down and the grip lets go and gets the blame. -Just sayin'. My grip isn't my weak point, but if I get in a crap lockout situation I'll sometimes pull my grip off with my leg (sumo). If I'm locking out correctly my grip never even comes close to being an issue.

Seriously bro, I have girly hands! it's my genetics! haha :(

Throw them straps in the trash. I have never put any straps or lifting gloves on, nor will I ever! If you can't lift it there is more ''weak piont'' training to work on.

as stated, chalk will help, but your gonna find a lot of your callouses are gonna shred if open using chalk.

I also have small hands (god-damn genetics) and its tough to get a solid grip on a lot of lifts but you just gotta suck it up tbh
