What antibiotic when you get INFECTION

Curious if anyone has ever gotten an infection after pinning and what antibiotic was prescribed. Its 5 days later and the pain in my quad is 10/10, swollen, hot to touch. Asking a friend of mine to prescribe me amoxicillin, is that the correct antibiotic?

I was always told if that happens to go to the doc to get it drained before it hardens so I dono lol. I would think that amoxicillin would work early on...

That's the thing though its swollen but I can't feel any pudge spots where fluid is accumulated yet. Still any suggestion whether amoxicillin works, would rather try it for a few days before going to doc if so.

Well if it's already an abscess I don't think it will help anything because the antibiotic wont be able to reach it then but since you say it's only been 5 days it will probably help. However on my last cycle I had some gear that was giving me crazy ass pain so I had to stop it. I got lumps on my quads and hurt for over a week but it went away on it's own. So maybe yours isn't infected or maybe it is the only way to find out is to go to the doc. Do you have a fever?

Had test flu, body aches, sweaty nights, and felt warm.
Right now its likely one of three things...
Infection
Gear had high ba%
Body absorbed oil too quickly and crystals remain.
Popping ibuprofen 800mg before bed which helps a bit.
Bump on amoxicillin question.

Doubt you have Abcess .... If u used sterile technique and have good gear it's likely that your muscles are just pissed off at this foreign substance. Having flu symptoms along with it makes it more likely.

Common skin infection atb include Keflex / cephalexin or Bactrim/ trimethoprim sulfa if there is possibility of MRSA.

If it IS AN ABCESS, incision and drainage is a must. Definately try ibuprofen 800 mg every 6 hours. Apply heat.

Good luck bro

Apply some warm/hot patches. Maybe show some pictures. Can just be virgin muscles. If u really think its infected see a dr asap

I read the kind of posts people make and it really surprises me that people give this medical advice with such boldness and confidence when they most likely don't have any medical background (I'm not talking "my momma's momma is a nurse blah blah blah) anyway, A) if you have an abscess, it does not ALWAYS have to be drained as someone earlier said... B) YES antibiotics will "reach it" if it is a smaller abscess without having to be drained. C) the type of antibiotic will depend on what type of infection it is, but the most commonly prescribed broad spectrum antibiotic for abscess is Bactrim-DS at my ER-we see about 10/day on a normal shift.

Silly ER nurses. Some people went to school MANY more years than you , so there's a reason you're not driving the ship.

I think it's best to be better safe than sorry. Definitely get that checked out by a doc. Ask about bactrim and pain relief.

Looking forward to learning and growing. Cheers!

Ill agree they did go to more schooling, but not MUCH more. I know a shit load of doctors who know a lot less than me, and I'm not even close to the best. Just get your facts straight before you go around telling people that their pimple sized abscesses need to be I&Ded.

I recently had around a softball sized lump on my glute, it was big enough that you could see the one half of my ass from the front. My sister whos a nurse got me a weeks worth of bactrim DS. I took one in am/pm for 7 days along with 800mg ibuprofen at the same time. Cleared it up completely no issues whatsoever. It really only took about 2.5-3 days before i noticed it was back to normal but better safe than sorry.

I advise you to consult a doctor prior to taking antibiotic, mate.

He speaks as if he's one of those people that went to school for MANY more years but probably has no medical qualifications hahahaha. Nurses in general and especially ER nurses oftentimes know a lot more than the doctors on certain topics since those are the topics that they address day in day out and the doctors can't be bothered with these "minor" things. All in all I'm goin to go with "this silly ER nurse" since he has more medical and practical/hands on knowledge than the rest of us in this thread combined.

I had my sister get me bactrim cause thats what she said i needed. However im allergic to amoxicillin, i agree with the above maybe a medical professional check it out. Everybody from what i hear always says to tell them it was froma B-12 shot you did yourself.
