Nobody really gives a shit about DIM. Some sources say it can even increase estrogen in some cases. Most peeps go the pharma route anyways. It's nice to have something milder when you don't want to have drugs in your body year round. I know zinc is supposed to be an effective and very mild AI. I love it. Never got blood work or anything obviously, but it makes me feel good.
As for DIM i can't comment, never tried the stuff. Maybe shoot austinite a PM? He's usually the man to talk to when it comes to supplements... Or just about anythin else lol.
I do 60 mg every day, but it's opti-zinc which contains a bit of copper. Zinc can deplete copper levels. 50 mg is the highest i would go for everyday use. You can easily get that amount from eating a couple of oysters. That's why they are known to be aphrodisiacs. Austinites acne protocol calls for 50-100 mg but its temporary. I think the higher the dosage, the stronger the inhibition of aromatase and 5 alpha reductase. High/mega dose zinc is known to increase testosterone but it can lower HDL(good cholesterol) and affect other metabolic factors. I recommend optizinc if you wanna go high dose for the long term. Optizinc and picolinate are the best. Optizinc is zinc monomethionine/copper sebecate, one of the most bioavailable forms.
Oh okay. Lol i have been taking zinc chelate 88mg p/day, split into hakf morning n night. It says on the bottle 1 tablet 220mg zinc = to 22mg elemental zinc. I just upped it today to 6 tablets (132mg)... So that wud be too much for period of say two weeks? I also take multivitamin containing copper
It could be too much depending on dietary intake of zinc/copper. I really like Optizinc, you should try it. It's good that your multi has some copper though. Being copper toxic is nasty, it down regulates androgen receptors, it's the opposite of the awesome effects that zinc has on you. Zinc can hinder the absorption of and deplete copper and iron. I wouldn't directly supplement either of those, just keep the zinc dosage reasonable. Optizinc has been proven not to affect copper levels. At least that's what the study said(sponsored by the company lol) If you start feeling any kind of lethargy or weakness it could be zinc depleting iron. Zinc is great for the prostate and definitely improves fertility(Testosterone, erections, libido, ejaculate volume) but you have to respect it and try to balance it out. I would actually stay at 132 mg for those two weeks and see how that goes. Keep an eye for any bad sides. Look into optizinc, source naturals sells 120 tabs for 5 bucks on amazon. I liked it more than picolinate, maybe the copper? I dont know. Zinc can also preserve thyroid function after intensive exercise. It also keeps testosterone levels higher.
Sorry for the post being all over the place, i'm tired =P
No problem, it was dead anyways. I forgot ever asked that question. I DID ask Austinite about it the DIM in one of his supplement threads. He said it could help but wasn't too excited about it. It seems like a double edge sword. Maybe low dose will help optimize estrogen metabolism but high dose will do the opposite. I've read anecdotes to support both theories.
$30? Sheeeeiiiet, haha. I like to buy two bottles at a time. That's 240 tabs for 10 bucks. Dirt cheap supplements are always the best. Look into magnesium if you haven't already. Enhances sleep, increases free testosterone, helps maintain bone strength and helps ya sleep well. Once you finish that bottle buy an opti and see how you like it.
Mmm thanks for the suggestions bro, think il grab some magnesium aswell lol. Havent been sleepin the best of late. Im sure some extra rest would do me good. Yeah its around $30 for 200 tablets lol so deffs a rip. Should really start buyin all my supps online, i buy and take so goddamn many supplements now because of ology!!! Hahah ill be changing that to say coz of you soon lol!
Yeah brother, always get it online unless you can't wait or you know a store that carries the product. You get a wider range of products and more competitive pricing. I'm a minimalist, i hate feeling like a pill popper but there is some really good stuff out there.
Lol yeah i hate the pill popper feeling too lol but the benefits outweigh that feeling lol.
Curious, how many supplements do you take? Im on about nine atm. Whey protein, creatine, NAC, L-taurine, vitamin b5, fish oil, multivitamin, zinc and L carnitine. So many lol
