Why would the manufacturer of the needle make a bit of difference?

If you buy some cheap needles then buy some brand name bd you would definitely pick bd. Some dont come.as sharp wouldnt be able to see with naked eye but under closer inspection you would notice.a difference. Especially when you stick yoursef with it. Also some brands have a coating on needle to aid with glide
