What carbs to eat when cutting down bodyfat?

Hey guys, so I have been eating brown rice and red potato non stop...I'm kind of getting to the point where it's getting hard to put down my meals. I eat Oatmeal too but that is just for breakfast.

I do not like quinoa or sweet potatoes or yams.......which are the three most other common carbs my friends are telling me to eat. Can you guys suggest anything else?

The reason why those are often recommended is because they have more natural fiber, which lowers their glycemic impact. The thing is, if you're sporting a good insulin sensitivity, all that really matters is you do two things:

1. Meet your protein needs.
2. Stay at a deficit calorie-wise.

Obviously, the more nutrient dense choices you make will be a healthier choice, but for just the purpose of losing weight - you could literally do it on twinkies only and still lose weight. (this has been done actually, to prove a point)

Corn tortillas, this is great because you can eat them with every meal. Go with pastas too. and for more expert advice please consult with 3J's and cream of wheat it.

but the real question is, is cutting carbs the key to losing body fat?

Rice cakes (cheddar is my favorite), whole grain pasta, granola, healthy snack foods (wheat thins, triscuts, granola bars etc...), whole grain pancakes or waffles.

Here are some shocking suggestions - white bread, normal potatoes, white rice, any other starchy sources and of course my personal favourite...FRUIT.

Don't make this more complicate then it needs to be man.

No - being in a caloric deficit is :)

Zilla, I've always read that fructose is a poor carbohydrate choice in regards to muscle building and is inferior for glycogen replenishment as opposed to glucose. What is your take on this?

I thought that when cutting down bodyfat you HAVE TO stay away from bread and pasta?

I absolutely hate this good/bad food list some people have for dieting - all it does is encourage an unhealthy relationship with food.
You don't HAVE TO stay away from anything when dieting if calories & macros are under control and you exercise moderation when it comes to treats/less nutritious foods.

I agree.
Fructose is good for replenishing liver glycogen but does nothing for muscle glycogen - hence why its a poor choice if you RELY on it as your main carb source.

It does however serve as a good source of quick energy preworkout (I love skittles for example) and remember that fruit in particular isn't exclusively fructose - its a mix of glucose/sucrose/fructose.

I've lost weight on keto dieting and dieting with carbs. but I lost more fat quickly with a keto style dieting than with carbs... I think both work, one might work better than the other depending on the person but both will work and work well IMO.

A lot of great feedback here... for bulk orders I get some of this from Sam's Club.

Big bags of large potato's, grapes, bananas and rice are price very nice at Sam's.

To keep me away from packing on the butter, I cook 8 oz of mushrooms in olive oil and Worcestershire sauce
for my potato's... Worcestershire sauce is also priced great.

Side note... the whey protein is also priced very nice... I cover the cost of the membership in just one or two
visites... and I'm usually there once or twice a week, just for my own eating habits. :D

I appreciate the help a lot, so just to get this correct:
I can eat bread, pasta, all that as long as I count my cals/carbs?

I have a buddy who competes and gave me his meal plan which is:
Brown Rice, Sweet Potatoes, Yams and Quinoa are the only carbs you can eat. No seasoning. Only thing you are allowed to add for flavor is mustard.
I kept it up for two weeks before I started gagging everytime I ate.
My goals are: I just want to be 9.5% and huge(with help of AAS), I am not going up on stage and trying to be a freaky 6.5% lol

sorry bud but 9.5% is going to take some bland eating... the most important things is to keep the hell away from fat, any fat, on high carb diet. the lower the carbs the more healthy fat you can tolerate. say goodbye to fatty carbs like fries, greasy bacon cheeseburgers with bun etc... stick to health foods with little fat and you'll be good on a carb diet, if doing keto you can tolerate some fat but it should be healthy fats like fish, olive oil, organic peanut butter. I use chili powder, fresh squeezed lemon/lime juice, garlic/onions, mustard, and/or a bit of salt for seasonings... I miss bbq sauce but if you get 0 fat sauce you can take the carbs on a high carb low fat diet and just pull back a bit on the rice.

yup... carbs are not the enemy

you can easily cut eating 200-300 carbs a day so long as you are in a deficit..

is it the case that lower carbs work better for some people.. sure.. its not all black and white there are many factors..

but the one truth, the one scientific fact, is that if you want to cut you have to be in a caloric deficit in one way or another
