What do you guys think about Probiotics?

Probiotics are among the top three most rapidly expanding functional food categories in the United States. You've seen them in yoghurt and other dairy foods, but are they exactly?

Well you've heard of antibiotics, right? Those are the pills you take when you get an infection. If we break the name down, we have â anti meaning something that is against, and âbiotic which means produced or caused by living organisms. In the case of antibiotics, the name means they kill bacterial infections.

But in general, something we call biotic is an organism or a living part of one. A probiotic is something that PROmotes that living organism. There are hundreds and hundreds of different probiotic bacteria found in the human digestive track, and they're responsible for maintaining a healthy digestive process.

Probiotics have recently become the one of the most talked about, and researched, products in the nutritional world and for good reason.

The European Journal of Clinical Nutrition published an article that examined subjects who consumed twelve weeks worth of a fermented milk product containing the probiotic â Lactobacillus� and found that there was a 4.6 per cent reduction in abdominal fat plus a 3.3 per cent reduction in subcutaneous fat. Body weight also dropped by 1.4% while waist size decreased by almost 2%. A previous study in the British Journal of Nutrition showed that probiotics may reduce both fat cells and fat levels in animals.

Nutrition Journal also published a study on competitive male cyclists showed that probiotic intake could result in a decrease in symptoms of upper respiratory tract infections. Professor Mike Gleeson from Loughborough University, who specializes in researching the links between exercise and immune functioning, says that probiotics have shown early promise for general health purposes by potentially reducing the incidence of infections as well as the duration and severity of illness.

So while probiotics are relatively new to the nutritional supplement scene, they've arrived with a seriously impressive body of research to support their use for both general health as well as burning fat. ;)

I def believe in them. I tried gut health that it was just ok. But I normally just take pure acidolphlius. I'm a big Myofusion fan and since Orbit has it in stock, I'll be trying the new one with Probiotic.
 
I believe in them. I take 2x a day. One in the AM and one at night. Ever since I started the gas caused by excess protein has all but disappeared!
 
probiotics are awesome, although you're better off getting them from fermented foods rather than just buying them in pill form. The problem with the pill form is that there's a bunch of different types of bacteria, and different pills contain different ones. You might end up buying one that has loads of the bacteria you are not deficient in, and none of the bacteria you need, so you might not get the benefit. There's probably a test you can get done somewhere to see which you need but I dunno, sounds like a pain in the arse to me.

So fermented foods are better than just supplementing. Having said that, if you've tried them and they're working, then you got the right ones.
 
I can only summise that my digestive tract is being cleaned and that the product is doing exactly what it says - a little too well :-)

I use them, and will keep using them.
I think probiotics would be more important then some other supplements, as diet is everything.
 
I had a serving of a protein powder with a pro-biotic and i was pleasantly surprised to find out that my stomach didn't get the same "irritation" as i normally would but the next day i did have a pretty healthy looking crap haha. I noticed something after 1 dose so i would be in the long-run that it would be extremely beneficial especially for high protein diets and even better for Keto diets for sure considering you have something to help aid in the digestion department.
 
I've never tried them. Judging by what y'all are saying about them though, I may need to give it a shot. My wife would thank me!! Lol
 
dieting is the more important then anything else, even working out, you can have a great day in teh gym but not eat right and it is all wasted. So why not add something that helps your body absorb and utilize what you are eating. I love probiotics. Might take some time to get used to though
