Okay...
so i looked up some numbers that i am not 100% sure what to do with.
BMR 1550
TDEE 2600

I am not quite sure what to do with these numbers.
I am trying to shoot for about 3000 cal a day.
I have been training and running OCR's for 4 years and do some strength training 5 times a week.
I was trying to go up to 3500 calories of whole foods but it wasnt happening so I trying to build up to it.
My goal is to push up to 165 this winter.
Presently I am 147 at around 10-13% bf and have never been heavier than 155 about 10% fat.

Anyway, what does this TDEE calculator really tell me?

It tells you that, at your present activity level, you need 2600 calories to stay exactly how you are. If you decrease your activity level, the number of calories will go down and vice versa.

cybr is correct..

but keep in mind that this is a best guess based on which ever formula you used to come to that number..

the best way to gauge your metabolism is trial and error while using your tdee as a starting point..

when you were on 3k calories a day how much weight were you gaining a week?? how about 3500 calories??

what i like to do with my clients is start about 20% about their TDEE for a bulk and slowly add calories as we progress to keep the bulk going

Thank you for the response.
For some reason I fnd it very hard to eat high calories for more than a couple days at a time.
I feel like crap and have gi upset.
But I am still pushing.
At 2800-3000 I put on 5 pounds but it was more gut than muscle.
I gain or lose 5 pounds as a matter of course. It is both good and bad.
It is tough to maintain the proper motivation to cram my mouth every 3 hours with good whole foods.

When I was around 3600 calories during my bulk, I added a cheat meal to help out. Not a Burger King cheat meal, but something not totally clean. For example, I made a lactose free Chicago Style Deep Dish Pizza and had a slice or two. It helps you both feel better and get your calories higher.

I am doing some research to find some safe ways to increase appetite.

One thing that stimulates my appetite is smelling food cooking. I will eat a huge meal right before work in the kitchen. Doesn't matter though I start smelling the food cooking and my appetite skyrockets.

Try getting in the kitchen and start cooking onions and stuff like that. Another good way is to have a crock slow cooking a favorite all day. Smelling the food cooking helps the appetite give it a shot.

I stopped trying to eat clean, per se.
But I do eat clean in that most of my food is whole, organic, and usually locally grown or from farmers markets.
But if I crave something I do not deny myself anything except fast food.
I dont touch that filth.

I used to watch a lot of cooking network.
But I don't have cable anymore.
I killed it.
It was too much of a distraction to me.
Life is too short to spend a lot of time watching Tell Lie Vision.
