Hey guys,

Question about that muscle that outlines the abs. About what BF% does it start showing up? Its my next goal now that I have more arm definition, and Im wondering how far off I would be.

Also, should I be working out my ab muscle to make them more defined or is it strictly diet for them showing up?

Thanks guys!

It varies a lot depending on how built the actual muscles are. When I was really skinny and around 8 to 9% I could still barely see my abs.

Sweet, it sounds like I need to focus on abs more when I do my bulk then when I trim again I might be able to see them.

Thanks man!

Lol this is painful - seeing your abs has nothing to do with how "built" they are.

To the op: generally as you get below 15%bf you start to see a basic outline, below 12% if you tense its a full 6, below 10% and your good to go with full on abs.

It has very little to do with how built they are, if you have fat over them you will never see them no matter how built they may be :)

So you are saying that the fact I neglected my abs for the past year will have no bearing on whether they show or not and I should still focus on losing weight right?

How have you neglected your abs exactly? Not doing crunches doesn't mean you neglected your abs - any compound exercise you do (deadlift, squat, other exercises were your standing) - your using your abs.

If you lose enough fat you WILL see for your abs - fact.

I just mean I havent been doing direct ab exercises for a while. Oh well, heres to keep on cutting!

As mrrippedzilla said you use your abs when doing any major movements you should learn to activate your tvas for every lift you'll be amazed at how much stronger you will become by using them and strengthening up your core.
