Policies can be cancelled but not for health reasons.
Health care companies are no focusing on groups of 25+ leaving only deductible plans to small businesses.

Substance abuse is a health reason? I swear when we had orientation for benefits, that was a flag for being able to remove us as policy holders. I realize that you are a professional in this area; but to my knowledge, substance abuse being on your record can also preclude you from obtaining a new policy if you change employers, no?

Health insurance policies are being canceled right now because they don't meet the Minimum Requirements of the Affordable Care Act. Not because people have pre-existing conditions. You can't exclude health insurance to people for pre-existing conditions anymore.

Having all these lab results in your health records though would definitely be problematic in getting private Life, Disability, or Long-Term Care Insurance though. I wouldn't want that in my personal medical records.

Being unable to preclude one from obtaining insurance is due to the ACA, right? I swear I remember them talking about substance abuse being a biggie last time we renewed. That or it was the crack I was smoking before the orientation. (OKAY, not literally!)
