AMEN! Bro, I tried to bulk and stay lean. It doesn't work. If you want to gain the most muscle possible, some fat is going to come along with it. A clean diet and a little cardio will help, but if you're an average person, there is going to be some fat gain. As for the diets, personally I think there aren't enough meals, but I'm no expert by any means. I take 2 shakes a day, but I also get 6 meals a day. There are some great diets posted somewhere here in the diet forum. They will give you something to go off of. BTW, what are your stats? Age, height, bf%?

Agreed.

i know that i will get some fat but for the most part i would like to stay lean... but u guys still arent answering the main question of the post. can u please stick to the topic. thanx

Eat good healthy food when you are bulking but eat a lot of it. If you do not enjoy the food you eat, bulking becomes a chore. Your bodyfat percentage is going to go up. But you should be lifting heavy, getting stronger, and putting on a lot of muscle mass. When I am bulking I am in heaven. I get to eat a lot, and I love to eat. I am stronger in the gym, and I am getting bigger. What could be better!
Don't make bulking a chore by being too scientific with your diet, save that for cutting. Enjoy it and you will definitely have more success.

My answer again, if you want it, is that there isn't enough food in either of the diets. But, like I said, I'm no expert. I know what works for me, and that is 6 meals a day with 2 protein shakes. One post w/o and one in the afternoon. You will find a mixed opinion on the use of protein shakes to REPLACE meals rather than to SUPPLEMENT meals in this forum. Some say it's ok, some say no. From my experience, I can't grow as well without food. 2 or 3 meals a day would leave me with no energy. JMO though. Anyone else?

I eat 6 to 7 meals a day with a gallon of milk throughout the day. But food is still the main ingredient for growth.

depending on what your used to eating and what size you are, this could or could not be enough food to bulk. let have some stats-

out of those 2 diets, I would have to say the 2nd one is more likely to yield results as the other one is just to strict, but I still prefer to eat more calories than that

the second diet....not enough food..... r u kidding?

What's to kid about. There are only 3 meals in that diet. And 3 shakes. Only 16 ozs. of meat the whole day and only 3 1/2 cups of milk. Most here eat that much whole food before lunch. Why not ditch the shakes for some food?

because the shakes are easily digested and they dont fill u up as much as the food does which allows me to keep my intake higher. just my 2 cents

Just gradually start increasing your intake of whole foods. Eventually you'll eat all of it as food with no problem. Just gotta stretch the stomach and get used to it.
