Were told keep back staright, no momentum at all when training back i.e barbell rows etc. Now i ignored it at first but every clip of a pro doing back, they use lots of momentum, pull downs, rows everything!!! So i started doing it, and yip for the first time i really felt my lats pumped!!!! discuss..................

I dont think it a simple question of should you use momentum or strict contol. I was also puzzled at seeing all the pros in vids swinging the weights but I would imagine a video showing strict control with light weights would make boring viewing.

Personally I use strict form no momentum as in the HIT method while warming up once the weight is to heavy to control then yeah I cheat. My philosophy is if you want to get big you have to lift heavy and if that means cheating so be it.

Obviously cheating takes emphasis off isolating the target muscle but to stimulate growth its always best to involve as many synergisitic muscles as possible. JMO Im no where near Pro level so I will be interested in hearing some comments from the vets on this one.

ok so your saying its because they need to lift very heavy weights, but like i said its from the very first rep to the last, also they are a lot stricter with other body parts. you said perhaps the video would be boring if they were doing light weights and strict form (even there warm ups they jerk) i dont agree. i think thats how they do it when the cameras are not there, i mean it aint as if there making a huge movie!! i just think they have found out that when jerking it takes a lot of stress off the arms and puts it on the lats, thats what i found im sticking to the way the pros do it.......

Watching videos showing form is for newb lifters who might hurt their back. Beginners might hurt their backs by USING their back for the lift rather than the muscle. Pros arent using their backs for the lift which is the biggest reason.
