If I stop cycling for good, will I be able to maintain some of my gains?
First, thanks for anyone who took the time to read my thread and give me an informed response. I've been lifting since I was 15 and have kept to a very clean and healthy lifestyle. I was a swimmer, runner, and soccer player in high school and have kept myself very healthy ever since because I love the feeling of being fit, healthy, and active.
Recently, I've been cutting out more of my cardio and concentrating on trying to put on more muscle. I'm 5'10 and have weighed between 155 and 165 pounds from high school through college. I'm currently 28, weigh aprox. 180 pounds, and have around 10% bodyfat. Naturally I have great legs, a nice chest, a nice back, and okay arms. I eat about six meals during they day (tapering the carbs out towards the end of the day), take my EFAs, get approximately 1.5-2.0 grams of lean protein per pound, and eat primarily healthy lean proteins (chicken breast, egg whites, canned tuna, fresh fish, and protein shakes) as well as enough healthy carbs (yams, brown rice, oatmeal). I've cycled creatine into my supplements, as well as BCAAs, glutamine, and NO. I have been happy with my results, but I feel like I've come to a plateau.
I've been doing a lot of research about taking anabolic steroids and weighing the positives and negatives of their use. I can't say I'm an expert by any stretch of the mind, but I feel that I have researched enough to make smart decisions. There's a lot I can read in forums and books, but I really have a big question that can only be answered by those of you who have successfully and unsucessfully used and experienced anabolic steroids. IF I DECIDED TO SAFELY AND SMARTLY CYCLE OVER A PERIOD OF A YEAR, WOULD I BE ABLE TO KEEP A DECENT PORTION OF THE MUSCLE THAT I HAD GROWN? Now I realize that I wouldn't be able to keep it all, but I'm wondering if this would help me achieve a more balanced physique (refined larger muscles) at my ideal weight of 190-195? My goal is not to become a bodybuilder or cycle for the rest of my life in order to keep this physique. My goal is to refine all my muscles, bring out weaker areas, and be able to maintain these gains after I stop cycling through a healthy and active lifestyle.
Any help from your personal experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
