working out at home

do you guys think that i get a full quality work out at home instead of going to the gym.

this is the equitment i have. Full inlcine decline bench power rack with dip station. Ez curl bar for tris and bis and olympic barbell with 300 pounds of weight.

I will in the future be getting a leggpress/ hack squat, also a handle and mount so i can make my olympic bar into a t bar row. I will be getting a full set of dumbells. And maybe ill even get a lat pull down/ low cable row.. but thats one is a maybe.

My question is do you think if i buy this stuff i will have a full quality work out. One good enough that i could one or two cyles a year and not be wasting them. As far as i can tell there is not one exercise i would be able to do besides the cable ones. thanks

Unless you live in the middle of nowhere I suggest joining a hardcore gym. You will meet like minded people who can motivate you and give you advice. Eventually you will need someone to spot your lifts, at a gym these people are there to help.

I've got a small incline/decline bench and some dumb bells for the days when I just can't get to the gym but I need to goto a gym for a better workout. I need to be in the environment around others and in a setting that motivates me. Working out at home I don't think I could get a full mind pump to work out hard. Lastly I like being looked at by others with admiration and envy.

well i have 3 gyms with in a 5 block radius of my house, i just dont like going to the gym. I like working out at home cause i can listen to music loud and i can work out any time i want and as much as i want. I also dont have to make a plan out of it or get motivation to go to the gym because im already there. Plus the stuff i will buy will last me for years.

my question is, are there any exercises i need to do that i cant do at home. Also my friend works at a gym so i can go there any time i want for free any way. The spotter thging wont be a problem for me because i dont have one now, and it wont be different.

Ive been training at home also,I like it,good music loud, fart, grunt.
picked up a tbar,powerblocks,cable x-over,lat pulldown,smithrack,low row,450#plates,got all I need,jet tub,sauna,I love it and own it

squats, bench, deads and heavy back work should be the core of your routine. make sure you can do these and all else will follow suit.

I wish i had the money to train at home during the summers......it would definitely be nice to just wake up, train, sleep.....also listen to the tunes cranked, scream at the top of my lungs to get the last rep out, grunt, sweat and not have to clean it up till im done my workout...

but i definitely cannot think of anything that u cant work out with what ur planning on getting....instead of lat pulldowns, just put up a chin bar...long enough that u can do wide grip chins...

I train at home.
However, I am also a member of a gym. But I only go there to do boxing training on weekends, and usually lift weights 4 times a week at home in my basement.

i have all that stuff you said + dumbells and leg stuff, but i think you should join a gym. i worked out in my house for like my first 2 months but after that youll find there is so much more workouts you can do at a gym. stuff you dont think of. plus like simply n husky said it helps alot to have other guys around to spot you and especially critique your form for various workouts. i been going to my gym for 7 months and im still learnign many many new tips every week at least. like for example:
i was doing dumbell rows and this guy let me know that my back was almost straight up(its supposed to be close to horizontal). its like i was doing shrugs instead of rows. little things like that help alot.

well i still have acess to a gym but i think i would work out much harder and more often at home. I still need a leg press and dumbells but i cant fit that in my room so i have to fix up my basement.

they make these things called plat mate and if you buy all round dumbells you can get the plate mates big enough so that so that they equal 5 pounds, so when you buy your dumbells you can buy at intervells of ten.

Yoy think you could juice and still have a good enough gym to bring you to the potential of workouts youll need.?

Sounds like a nice setup to me. Get 100lbs of more plates sometime, deadlifts climb up pretty fast, just don't go nuts. I have my own gym and love it. It's small, but It's enough. My own tunes, no jerks, It's good. I was a member of various gyms for 15 years, yeah, better equiptment, but my power days are over. Than again, if your young and really serious about being a monster and don't mind a few a-holes around you, a hardcore gym is probably your best bet. Look for a dungeon. Best of luck.

i think think working out at hom e would make you even more of a moster. not to sounds corny but ronnie colemann only uses basics.
i hurt my back so i cand do much on my equitment. right now

i have 2 similiar threads, i forgot i made the first one but ill ask the same question i just asked on the other one. what do you guys think should i get akeys leg press or a nybarbells one.

Can any one reccomend a leg press/hack squat. also what kind of dumbells should i get?
for dumbells check out powerblocks, compact and really not to bad on the price if ya add up all the cost of the dumbells you get, also on theleg press I would go with something with bearings otherwise the feel like junk!I learned that with my smith(which has the roller bearings now!)this is where I got my smith, its the Caribou III System
