wraps, do they hinder forearm development?

At what point do you put the wraps on?
I wear them only when going HEAVY on
deadlifts, lunges, dumbbell rows, SLDL's, and
shrugs. What is your opinion on wraps?

Thats the only time I use them as well. Not using them would hinder the development of my other muscles so ill just train forearms directly if I feel I have too.
 
I have heard that it does but as barnzy said not using them could hinder growth of the other muscles. Like doing shrugs without wraps, for me personally i couldnt do as much weight without them.
 
I use wraps on my bench, even though i am not going super heavy 240 range, just cuz after benching my wrists always hurt for some reason
 
So you use them to lock the bar on a
certain part of your palm so you can push
better or with less pain?

I have no pain in my wrists after done with my sets as opposed to having pain, which would prevent me from doing more sets/reps even though my chest would not be tired.
 
am i really missing out by not using them? my hands hurt like a motherfucker from deads-but thats it. i seem to have no issues anywhere else.
 
I have to use them on deadlifts past a point.
My grip can only hold my heavy sets a few reps. After that the wraps might as well
be hooks.

I use them on deads, heavy seated rows and pull downs.
Once in a while a do farmers walks or pick and hold all the db's for 15 sec going down the rack and then back to strengthen my grip and fore arms.

Oh and I had them pollyester material ones with the rubber grip-they suck get the cotton one

Always wonder why most of you have crap forearms......try training without wraps for 6month and you will notice the difference.

Might be one exception if doing HEAVY deads,and I mean heavy 5plates+ aside.
 
I agree with most. the only time I use them is about midway through my deads when I get to 8+ pies and also for shrugs. I found that the way I sort of jurk up the cambered(SP?) bar and pinch it at the top I have a hard time focusing on the shrug. I focus more on my grip holding the bar. even though 6 pies isnt much, the way I get it up (ok laugh you homos) takes its tole on my grip and my hands.
 
i dont even use them for 5 plates-but only because ive always been told not to-that it would make my forearms weaker compared to other muscles-i gues there is some truth to it-i have never made it past my grip strength yet

are you assclowns talking about WRAPS or STRAPS? Sounds like straps.

I use them for heavy rows, and pulldowns. And i have no issues with forearm strength. I think the biggest thing people do wrong is they don't use them correctly. As for being a pussy and using them as this guy said above. I, along with alot of other big fuckers would wholeheartedly disagree.

I would also disagree with that ignorant signature. Anyone who says you can't overtrain ovbiously don't know shit!! :D

I thought we were talking straps? I use them when I train back, they get enough work the other 6 days of the week.

i think everyone is, but the OP put WRAPS in the subject title. I was just making sure, cause one guy talked about using them to bench. Which i do with WRAPS, not STRAPS. lol

Do WRAPS help that much on bench? Not that i bench crazy weight by any means but sometimes I feel my wrists get bent back too much and fucks up my lift....yo by the way if we're ass clows your KING OF THE ASS CLOWNS.
