if i read this correct id say the only reason to work this directly is if you get shin splints

toe raises help ALOT in this situation, i have basically eliminated all shin slpints.

I will not do these excercises due to anterior compartment syndrome, my ant tibs are way too large as it is, and if I worked them out I could only imagine how much worse it would be. And to answer your question, yes they can become quite visible, I got mine from various sports, but fencing is a sport where you will see large development.

I use to have on of these. Not sure who sells them now. But you can just use a dumbell between the feet.

Is that the one that is sort of t-bar shaped, with two crossbars, and allows you to do seated toe raises? They have one of those at my gym, I use it occasionally when I'm having shin splint issues.
