Hello,

First time poster here.

I came across a thread on here about private md labs. It had been impossible for me to get blood work before. Very grateful for the information.

I have been feeling very tired for a while. In fact, I have new really felt "good" or young. As long as I can remember. But I never had the money to look into it.

If anybody could take a look at my blood work and give me some advice I would really appreciate it. I've attached testosterone, thyroid, growth hormone and cortisol labs.

Thanks to anybody who takes the time to reply. I really do appreciate it.

You should really talk to a doctor as you have something going on with your iron and kidney function. I can guess that your BUN/renal levels are from being dehydrated, but I have no clue aside from what google can tell me on your UIBC/Iron levels (iron overload comes up). High cortisol with lower test levels usually is indicative of adrenal fatigue, but I am not a doctor - so take that with a grain of salt.

Please let us know if you consult a physician and what they have to say. Good luck! :) (Or maybe DET-OAK can chime in here?)

Thank you for the reply. I thought I couldn't drink water before blood work. Hadn't drank any water in 14 hours. Could that explain what you are describing with the renal levels?

I really don't think I can see a doctor. No insurance and live on my own. Saved up for a while for the blood work. Plus, it's so hard to find a good doctor.

Is this low test? I wanted to avoid going off of google searches because I really don't know much about proper levels and the Internet can be very misleading.

The iron levels did worry me. But again I don't know what it really means.

Thanks again.

So I was about your age when I felt the same way. I started developing bad anxiety and my energy levels where none existent. How are you feeling mentally? Are you stressed out about anything and how long if so? Is this your first time seeing high iron and high cortisol on a blood test? How is your diet? What are your stats? (height, weight etc..)

Your numbers aren't that bad in my opinion. Your test is almost 500 and that's not bad considering it can fluctuate up and down. So I don't think you have a problem with your testosterone, thyroid etc. Halfwit is right about your BUN. If you look at the post after yours, you will see my numbers and high BUN as well. This is my first time seeing that, but it makes sense because I take adderall which is a salt and def dehydrates me. So I really need to increase my water intake. You shall do the same.

Do you know the privatemdlabs trick to save a lot of money on your blood lab? If not, I saw it from someone on here and its been a huge money saver. Just pick out the "Hormone Panel for Females" which is $59.99. Then go to google and search for "privatemdlabs coupons" or "privatemdlabs promo code." There is ALWAYS either a 10% or 15% off coupon. Anyway, just put female when it asks you your gender when checking out. When you get to labcorp or whereever, they will see the female and change it to male. They dont question you on it. Ever! You end up paying in the high $40's for tests which give you great info. The male price to get the same information is higher than $150 I think.

It's actually beneficial to be hydrated when getting a blood draw as the phlebotomist will have a heck of a time finding a vein that doesn't collapse otherwise. Again I'm not a doctor, but I do know that your renal system gets irritated if not given plenty of fresh water to keep flushing out the toxins that it needs to filter from your body. I have had a similar flag on a blood test before and that was the reason given to me - I too thought I had to stay away from ALL water/food for the preceding 15 hours or so it was before the test.

As Feel6ftunder stated, your test levels aren't LOW per se, but it is on the bottom end of the range. At 20, I would expect it to be a little higher, which is why I think you might be having issues with adrenal fatigue given your test and high cortisol. I don't know what your options are as things have likely changed since I was in your shoes, but I would check into county (assuming you live in the US) health clinics and see what they can offer.

I normally would advise against bringing in blood test results, but if you end up going to a county clinic - they might be happy to see something they don't have to request on your behalf. I know I've had friends that have had a lot of free medical care based on income done at these places, so it's definitely worth a shot if you can't afford to see a general practice physician.

My .02c :)

I probably should have posted my stats and story. Just didn't want to have a wall of text for everyone.

Stats as of Feb 1st
Age: 20
Height: 5'10 (Legit 5'10. Most people bullshit. =])
Weight: 219
Bench: 225
Squat: 315
Deadlift: 405

I started lifting when I was 15. I was a chubby kid my whole life. Pretty much morbidly obese. I was 5'5 280 pounds when I was 15. Couldn't even bench 80 pounds.

I started researching lifting and nutrition on body building .com. Thanks to the site and all of it's members I managed to lose 100 pounds in 10 months while growing a few inches. Lifts had all gone up about 50 pounds. I was still very chubby though.

I ended up gaining back 50 pounds in an attempt to give my a body a break from the weight loss. I started Rippetoes and started eating more. Clean foods but still too much. I had good strength gains on Rippetoes. Bench up to 225 x 5 Squat 335 x 5 and deadlift 365 x 5 ( Shitty deadlifting mechanics) (The squat was deep trust me =])

I spent the next two years spinning my wheels in the gym. Eventually creeping back up in weight to 270 pounds at 5'10 with my current lifts, 20 years old.

I had self diagnosed myself with an eating disorder. I had been eating what ever I wanted with a little bit of proper food. Way too much. I don't know what happened. I was probably trying to enjoy being a normal dude and not thinking about calories all the time.

8 months ago, once I had realized my eating problem and spending the two years gaining weight, I started eating clean again. I've managed to lose 50 pounds since.

Diet for the past 8 months has been lower carb, high fat and high protein. Healthy fats and lean meats. I've been drinking a green smoothie everyday(kale, spinach, apples, ginger, carrots, parsley) I drink about a gallon of water a day most days and sleep at least 8 hours a night and 12 on weekends. Lifting routine is similar to 5/3/1 with sled drags occasionally and low heart rate cardio.

I have a pretty healthy lifestyle. Haven't had a cheat day in months. I re-feed routinely. I don't drink, smoke, or take any drugs.

But I just dont feel good. I don't want to sound like a bitch but it's true. And I'm really tired of it. I can't remember the last time I woke up feeling good. I am exhausted every day. And it's been going on for years. I have had problems with depression (self diagnosed kinda) since I was a teen. I just figured, this must be how everybody is. I look terrible, (skin/hair/dark eyes/) I'm starting to lose sex drive and I feel depressed. I can't focus on anything anymore. Dont care for much. Lifting is getting harder and harder. Sleep never feels good and waking up is damn near impossible. And my joints are starting to hurt.

This can't be how people live their lives.

As for stress in my life now. Pretty standard stuff. I work 40-50 hours a week and live on my own. My mom is very ill so it takes a bit of toll but nothing I would ever think about complaining about.

I had my issues growing up. Went through a lot with my mom. Everyday was hard. We were not financially well off. I hadn't had blood work for 10 year before this, or any sort of doctors visit.

That's what I did. Great site. I had always thought getting blood work done was impossible. Thank you for the reply Bro.

Thank you. I will look into county clinics. But, do these docs know what their doing? It seems like most docs don't look for anything other than cholesterol levels.

I googled treatment for adrenal fatigue...

Lying down during your work breaks (preferably at 10 a.m. and again anytime from 3 to 5 p.m.)
Sleeping until 9 a.m. as often as possible
Laughing
Exercising
Minimizing stress
Taking negative people out of your life
Eating regular meals
Chewing well
Doing something fun each day
Combining unrefined carbohydrates with protein and oils
Avoiding junk food
Eating five to six servings of vegetables each day
Taking calcium and magnesium supplements
Adding sea salt to your diet
Taking 2,000 to 5,000 milligrams of vitamin C each day
Supplementing vitamin E with mixed tocopherols
Taking B-complex supplements that are high in B6 and pantothenic acid
Adding licorice root extract to your dietary supplement regimen

I do most of this. I even de-load as needed. Do you know of anything else? I've heard low test could have effects on cortisol.

Is that really normal test levels for my age? Does everything else look normal?
