Lab results from doc showed I'm overall healthy except for low Vitamin D. He reported my Total Test was 415. He said this is normal for my age and not to be concerned but to start supplementing with about 1000iu of Vit D/day.

So I checked and found various numbers reporting mean total test levels etc for my age range all of which were in the 500-600s. I'm not feeling sickly or anything. But def would like energy, motivation, recovery, better sleep, better sex etc back.

Any suggestions etc welcome.

Thanks.

I think you should take more like 6000iu of D.

Should probably check your thyroid too as that can effect your TT.

Your TT works for some and doesn't work for others....

Another doctor that sees "reference range" and turns his brain off. The question is: Do you FEEL good where you're at? You obviously went to see a doctor for a reason, do you feel compelled to push this further? If so, you can fire this bozo and find a doctor that will listen to you. FYI: The range on total test panels is ALL men from 18+, if you're at the lower end of that, guess who you have test levels in common with... ;)

Alternatively, you can always give the board sponsor Increase My T a call - I'd be with them in an instant if I wasn't a poor bastard right now as they seem to do it up right.

My .02c :)

So why 6k lol? I've read a little bit and I believe clinical trials with up to 4k hv been used. I also believe it's fat soluble so there's potential for toxicity.

The doc had my TSH tested as well but said that was normal too.

Well admittedly this was my new PCP who was fairly nice and open to improving my well being but by no means do I think he is highly knowledgeable regarding Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) etc.

I am considering an appt with a urologist for a follow up to get their opinion. However, judging by the large majority of posts on this board, no doctors are willing to prescribe Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) for anyone under 300 regardless of age.

But to answer your question, do I feel good, no. Do I feel terrible, no. Do I feel ok, yes. Would I like to stop feeling tired, easily fatigued, irritable, not sleeping well, and be able to kick ass and fuck like crazy, HELL YES.

I'll pick up the vitamin D supplement this weekend bc that appears to be a problem regardless of hormone levels. And on Monday, I will call the urologist and set up an appt for asap. I called an endo a couple weeks back and they didn't seem to have a clue wtf I talking about so I told them nevermind lol. So apparently where I live, the endos just make sure you don't have diabetes and shit but the urologists actually know about low T lol.

Additionally, I will call/email IMT just to hear what they have to say etc.

I assume you checked your thyroid, but how about a sleep study? Don't go on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) unless you have to. Other things, like sleep apnea can cause similar symptoms to low T and even lower your T. Did you check your LH and FSH -- they might point you in which direction to look? How's your diet? Are you taking any other medications or do you have any other health problems besides the low vitamin D? 415 obviously isn't where you want to be at your age (or any age) but there may be other things you can do to get it higher so you don't have to go on TRT. Like I said, testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) should be avoided if there are other ways to get your T back into the normal range. But if that doesn't work, testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) will help you feel like a new man.

Thanks for the advice man. Yeah the doc checked out my TSH and said it was gtg. I've wondered about the sleep study thing as well bc quality sleep has been a problem for many many years. It def seems like many of the symptoms associated w/ low T are shared with many other ailments etc. I'm not taking any other meds tho and other than slightly elevated LDL (which is hereditary) I am ship shape. The doc didn't mention checking LH or FSH. If I want to go the route of deeper investigation I will def make that appt with the urololgist; don't really think my PCP is the man for a detailed job like that.

I'm def not trying to engage in a lifelong therapy if it's not needed. However, I am interested in improving my quality of life. In the greater objective sense, I have an excellent quality of life; IOW I don't live in some poverty-stricken war-torn area and fight for my life on a daily basis. However, I don't think it hurts to desire even better.

Thanks again.

The poor sleep is tough. Low T affects a lot of guys sleep. But sleep apnea (and the resulting poor sleep) can lower your T. Kind of circular. You want to find out which is the cause. You should get a sleep study done and see if that is an issue. Good luck.

Just wanted to add that while my hypogonadism was unrelated to my sleeping, I recently had a sleep study done and found out that I have unobstructive apnea 20 times an hour! After a week of getting used to the CPAP machine, I can say even though it wouldn't have necessarily helped me avoid testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) - I feel MUCH better! Solid advice from Megatron as usual! :D
