5/3/1 Training - Thoughts?

Just wondering what experienced lifters think about this program. 5/3/1 is basically a 3 week cycle consisting of the "main" lifts where in week one you use a weight that lets you complete 5 reps for 3 sets. Week 2, up the weight and do 3x3. And week 3, up the weight again and do 3x1. Then up the weights and repeat. Then, there are "assistance" lifts.

jkmola.... I edited this because of copyright infringement reasons. We'll leave people to do some research for themselves.

With that being said, I like the program but I think it's pretty conservative if you are looking at maximal single rep strength. You can use it as a foundation for your lifts and you need to feel comfortable editing it when you would like. Stick with it for a couple waves, get an idea for what you are doing and then go from there.

Sorry about that - I thought as long as proper credit was given, it would be ok. Totally understand. As far as that program, it sounds like you think it would be more beneficial as a strength program? What about hypertrophy? Just wondering, cuz I was using it thinking it might kinda be a best if both worlds type of deal. I like strength, but at this point (48 yrs old), would kind of like to look good, too. Not like a "typical" powerlifter.
