THis is part of Needsize's post and I just question about a particular day..

day 2 back/shoulders
military press 5x5
side laterals 3-5x8-10
DEADS 5x5
chins 2x8-10
shrugs 2x8-10
rows 2x8-10
bent over laterals 2x8-10

For the Workout "Deads" what lift is that?? I was thinking Deadlift but wouldnt that be a leg workout?? Sorry for seeming stoopid but I cant think of what else it can be.. :D

Thanks!

You are correct in saying that deadlifts in fact do work your legs.

But, if you finish the movement and pull up and shrug at the end, you are using alot of your back as well as legs.

Hope that helps

Ken doll, I used to think the same thing. If you do dead sumo style like I used to, then they work 90% legs; switch to standard (feet shoulder width, overhand grip) and your body will tell you that deads do, in fact work back more than legs.

yes dead ares deadlifts.. as stated in the previous posts, its your form that depends on wether your using back or legs more.
Your routine looks good. I did 5x5 for a while when bulking for a change, did well with it.

so if i wanna work my back more in them then i should do both overhand grip? not one over and one under????

It's not necessarily that you work your back MORE with both overhand, it is that you work both sides of your body equally. With an underhand grip on one side, you work the back at a different angle than the other side with an overhand grip. If you prefer to do the over/under type grip, just switch hands every other set/session so that you work each side equally.

I know that an over/under grip allows you to move more weight, but it also creates an imbalance in the muscles unless you alternate sides.

Deads KILL your back, my legs are never sore after a 500 lb attempt, but I can barely bend over and tie my shoes next day.

I don't thin under/over grip will affect building equal muscle in your back at all, just give ya a better grip.

agreed, unless Im mistaken ronnie himself uses under/over and doesnt change it up. check the avatar

That's very possible. I'm just going off of what I've read and what my personal experience has been.

Personally, I sort of like the both overhand grip, and just use straps to compensate for my weak ass grip.

I'm with H-Frog on this one, I do not use under/over grip, but I open up my stance a bit and bend my knees and the range of motion going down with the weight I barely pass my knees with the bar and they I go up. Doing that and following the 5x5 I have seen big improvement in the strenght department.
