900lb bench

To be honest, most of the guys who compete in raw meets are losers who are afraid to compete against the big dogs. So they sit around bitching about how they could lift this or that if they had "insert bench shirt name here" or were on "insert X amount of gear here."

The truth is, if you want to compete against the best lifters in the sport, you have to compete in equipment meets. You're just not going to find the same caliber of competition anywhere else.

Really, this argument doesn't even exist in meets, only on the internet. The real competitors don't bitch, they just compete.
:agreed: :biggthump :bigok:

i saw a guy bench 650 at 196lbs. this was a u.s. record his stack included finaplex, anadrol, test suspension, hgh, and COCAINE transdermally in DMSO.to erase all joint pain.

I could barely roll 900 lbs downhill, much less bench press it. It still doesn't change the fact that I think both Synthol and bench press shirts should all be blown up.

I'll say this. If it weren't for bench shirts, we'd be seeing a lot more pec tears in powerlifting. Once your raw bench gets to 500, 600, 700 lbs, you start running into some problems.

I have to disagree w/ this statement, I as well as many of my friends have competed in power lifting meets. Most of us went raw, some equipped. None of us complained about anyone's #'s. The competition was with ourselves and no one else. Yes, it is kinda cool to see how you stack up w/ other people in your division, but ultimately it's you against the weight.

I chose to compete raw against equipped lifters. Why? Because I wanted to go up against the best I could at that time. I didn't care who was wearing what shirt, which knee wraps or who was using the giant ass spring. ( I've found if you spend to much time looking at and worrying about others, they are eventually goning to Surpass you.) But, thats just me. Sorry about the rant.

Oh, and regarding Gene's press, yes he did where a super slingshot on his chest, and yes he does not have a very high raw max. But the man has still benched more weight then any other human being on the planet using the same means everyone else has. He should be complimented for his hard work, not chastised for the shirt he wore.

first off i resent the powerlifting bashing , especially coming from bodybuilders whose sport is riddled with synthol users and competitors with implants , if you live in a glass house you shouldnt throw rocks . the bench shirt not only helps you lift more but it also protects your shoulders and no matter what kind of shirt you wear or how thick it is it still only starts the weight off your chest once the bar comes a couple of inches off the bottom you still have to lock it out . if you people think its that easy just because you are wearing a bench shirt you try it

a little touchy :D

i agree though

900lbs is still 900lbs--impressive

No way man, shirts help but still gotta be man to throw that weight up. At most I'd say a shirt will give 200lb and that is pretty high, so he is still benching 700.

A shirt giving 200lbs your out your damn mind...maybe 100max! but it ranged from 50-100lbs if that!

mman if 700lbs isnt impressive...lets se all of you do it...900lbs with a tight shirt on many people would just let the weight drop on them and die instantly...that is impressive either way..

Actually, you can get close to 200 out of a shirt. Mendy's Raw press was 713 his shirted bench was 875. That's a difference of 162 lbs. I've heard that Rychlecks raw max is in the neighborhood of 550.

the guy that benched 900 apparently has a 550 raw max, so obviously your theory is a bit off... i can't imagine how it would give that much of a boost but i guess it does

When Mendelson benched 713 raw, his shirted max was about 780.

About Gene, he probably doesn't even bench raw anymore. If he wanted to bench 700 raw he probably could. He'd start training that way. But he competes with a shirt, so he trains with a shirt.

I repeat, YOU HAVE TO LEARN HOW TO USE A SHIRT. YOU WILL GET MORE OUT OF IT THE MORE YOU TRAIN WITH IT.

I can respect personal competition. I commend you for that. My comment wasn't direct at somebody like you.

Still, I can't understand lifting raw against people with equipment. To me, that's bringing a knife to a gun fight. But that's just my opinion, and I don't know everything, lol. :D

lol, just remembered that Louie Simmons quote. Something like "Wrap a double ply around a bottle of test, put it on a bench, and see how much weight it lifts."

:D

Raw lifters and shirted lifters use completely different techniques. When you train for a shirted #, your raw max will drop. There is nothing you can do about it.

Well, noone's ever accused me of being th smartest individual on the planet. :insane2: :D

WOW,a Bench Shirt is cheating???? To think i thought this was a Steroid Board. You shouldnt throw stones while your living in glass houses.

that's damn impressive

if i was a hater, i would say one of two things:
1) hes so fat that he only has to lower the bar 5 inches to get to his chest
2) hes merely benching his own body weight

but i'm not a hater, and that is damn impressive shirt or no shirt, and I could never do it.
