Hi, I am 51 yrs old been working out four to five days a week for a year and a couple months. I have lost weight went from 247lbs to 188 and not have gained five pounds of muscle? I think.....lol . My total test level is 630. My question is would Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) help me gain muscle mass? I would like to get a little bigger but hard work has not helped to much. I hope I am not to old. Any ideas? I would really appreciate and opions or ideas. Thank for your time......

We are pretty much the same age and my test was close to yours. I really got sick of not seeing the results I did when I was younger but it was to be expected but hard to deal with. So the answer is yes I have seen some serious gains and it's nice to see some muscle.. The muscle only came during a blast of higher test and adding generic Anavar. That's not to say it would be the same for you.

A word of advice don't take it on yourself as you want to get the doses correct. I can tell you most testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) docs and consultans would most likely use tje below protocol for a person your age and with your test level,

150 to 200mg of test cyp a week. HCG twice a week to keep the testes firing. .25mg of arimidex twice a week to handle the effects of the gyno and to control estrogen. Hair loss is an issue for some.

There are some consultants on this board that others speak highly of you should check them out.

Good luck!

Thanks for the great reply.....I really appreciate it. The hair loss part would not effect me if u know what I mean. Thanks again and all the best.

You haven't gained muscle because you don't eat enough. Many of us wish we could have your test levels without HRT.

Good pont. Allot of guys say you can't really do build muscle and loose fat at the same time unless you are on some serious high dose steriods. My experience on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) has been the same.

I think you need to cycle your diet. Go on a bulking phase for a few weeks where you eat alot more, especially protien. Get alot more rest/sleep. and keep lifting hard.

after this bulking phase you can then go on a cutting phase and try to shed some fat while maintaining your muscle gains.

You should consult a diet and exercise expert like 3J, who is one of our highly recomended sponsors on this site.

good luck!

Nordic is right. It's eating or training and lifestyle. Doesn't sound like low test is affecting you harshly, although I would still recommend contacting Chip about a protocol just to see what he says. Best of luck.

I am by no way an expert on anything lol but.......I am getting about 3500 calories a day sometimes not that much. I don't workout on the weekends and I sleep 7 to 8 hrs a day? I may need a little more protien? Thanks for the replys fellows I do appreciate it.

I signed up with 3J for nutritional counseling and it was money well spent. Very cheap and the support is very helpful.
