aching elbow tendons

Ok, so I am this old bast**d (48) that still pumps iron like a 20 year old and have been so for 30 years. Problem now is my elbow tendons ache so much when I try to do curls and skull crushers that I think I may have to quit. Any one have any suggestions as to how I can lesson or prevent the pain from occuring? In my normal day-to-day life, I have no problems only when I try to work out.

Those 2 spots correlate to tendonitis. If you don't work your extensors, then you get an imbalanced forearm. I am part of the Gripboard forum for grip athletes and arm wrestlers, and people talk about this a lot. Easy fix is a bucket full of rice. Dig your hand down, and expand your hand. Expansion of your hand helps build the extensors. Same as if you used a rubber band around your finger tips, but a bit more effective.

I'm 50, welcome to old age. I have "golfer's elbow" tendonitis and I don't play golf. Hurts like heck. I was able to recover by avoiding curls or any isolation exercise for biceps for a few months. REST heals!

The elbow bands work to stop the pain, but don't heal the injury. Rest is usually the best permanent solution.

I wore a wrist brace for the most painful elbow. The wrist apparently affects the elbow tendon. The wrist brace is mandatory for nights until the pain disappears. I wore the wrist brace 24 hours whenever possible. The pain has now subsided after 4 months and I'm back to arm workouts!

Hell, im early 30s and my elbows ache like hell, tennis elbow or tendonitis...

I wear elbow sleeves when i train bi's (im currently avoiding straight bar curls, hurt like hell but is a shame because theyre such a great exercise!). The compression seems to help quite a bit.

This will sound weird but hear me out, I am an electrician.. with work and Lifting I have some Fairly sever pains in my elbow..

When i became a Trainer i read in some injury prevention books.

Start training your shoulders, presses especially.. see how it feels. that whole area is tied through your shoulder and back.

that is what helped me.

it could be tendinitis but more then likely it's strain. I get it ( 45yrs old) after 2x plate dips, you don't feel it that day.. but man the next few days are tender. Massage/stripping of muscle, electric impulse therapy, Rest/ice, Naproxin for inflammation and a few days.. your good to go. If it's chronic then you might have Tendonosis and that will need a doc.

over use syndrome or tendonitus like everyone else said. rest. yet dont stop working it altogether.. ice it after your workouts.. if you have a few cycles under your belt you could try deca, that made all my aches n pains go away while on.
