Age is creeping up me..help with joint pain..

My trainer makes me do the Prowler. I call her "Jezebel." haha!! DreDay is right, though...does not hurt my knees and TOTALLY kicks my tail as far as cardio goes. It also doesn't exacerbate my lower back problems. I have a love/hate relationship with it!

I'm planning a trip to Dicks this afternoon! This is something that I must have...the holidays are slowly creeping up and I'm going to need a "tail kicker" cardio workout! Thanks Imworthit! < As all us gals are and so much more!

viscosity shot to pad the knee joints. Insurance will pay every 6 months and 1 day. I've been doing it for 1.5 years now and it really helps. Only thing that sucks is they give you a shoot deep in the knee joint like 2 inches and you CANNOT MOVE while they inject the fluid. You go for 3 weeks straight then good for 6 months and start over again if needed. Good luck.

I'm not sure of how severe your pain is, or how effective/supported this is, but a few of my clients take cherry extract for joint/arthritic pain. Not sure if it will work in your case though.

I must admit I have never heard of this before but that I've researched it, it's something I could at least try. Thanks for the info!!

I have it done because I sheared off a piece of bone the size of the top of your thumb as in nail to knuckle. Because of that i have a gaping hole in my femur bone at the knee joint. I can thank 15 years of powerlifting for the injury but mainly I need as much extra padding as possible in the joint area. I've tried to say off pain meds so this was one of the options before they put me on a pain contract. good luck

Going to be 50 but I feel like 30 and look it as well. Even though I work out daily...eat right..my doctor tells me I have to stop running because I have arthritis in my knees. Shots in the knees to help the pain! My question is ..is there something else, besides vitamins, that is safe for a woman to take to help with joint discomfort? An help...suggestions...would be greatly appreciated.

You can try IAGH. I know this is a very "steroidology" like answer but right now I think it's the best thing to regenerate cartilage. You can check out the site iagh.com.

Prolotherapists do it too as 3J mentions. Depends on where you at but prolotherapy would be the thing to start with. Lot of them using PRP, stem cells in addition to dextrose (irritant that stimulates scar tissue formation to stabilize the joint).

Hydraulonic acid or viscosupplementation would be available at your orthopedic.

Watch out for cortisone, it can actually cause bone and cartilage softening accelerating arthritis. Why it's still so commonly used is a quandry.

I don't know much about women's healthy but there may be some supplements--like thyroid, estrogen or otherwise that may help with maintaining bone and cartilage density.

Some orthopedists also do PRP (platelet rich plasma shots). The prolo stuff is not covered by insurance (usually) and the orthopedist stuff is (obviously, usually).

NSAID's also decrease circulation to bone and probably cartilage too, so while it may offset pain it's not like a great thing to take if you want to heal.

That's all I have for now. Hope that helps some.
