is jogging with ankle weight bad in any way? i am startingto do it now. from what i figure the weight is on your lower ankle so it couldn't stress your bones too much, any input? thanks:)

These are the stupidest things I have ever seen, however they are a favorite amongst high school football coaches. The weight is not significant enough to give you any real benefit. I thought that these things went out of style with gravity inversion boots.

mine are 5 pounds per leg. i know people in the military job many miles with like 40 pounds on their backs, i have just 10, but i wasn't sure if caused any unnecessary stress:confused:

Bro, any added weight adds stress. Do I think that adding 5/leg will cause you any harm, NO, not unless you really overdo the running - which could hurt you in and of itself, even without the weight.

I play Basketball with them for cardio sometimes. I use the 5 pounders and they work good for me. They actually even increased my 40yrd dash time by a little bit.

When I was in Junior high and up til my first year of varsity I would wear these on game days around school. And up until the game, I felt faster in the game because the weight was off, and I felt lighters, etc.. then I read a bad review on them, and a new weight coach came in and told me they were shit, so I stopped wearing em.

here's your answer: i wore ankle weights for about 4 years in high school to train for track season. after experiencing severe knee problems, i went to an orthopaedic surgeon, who told me that my extensive cartilage degeneration was due to wearing the 8lb ankle weights for extended periods of time- they cause you to swing your legs harder and land with more force than usual, and can actually contribute to stress fractures in the feet, ankles and shins. stay away from them and just increase the intensity of your training sessions; it's not worth the price you pay!

I use them for doing ab leg raises on occasion.

That's it though.
