I haven't been to the gym since last Tuesday. My better half went into a fib and was hospitalized for a few days after our last work out. I do not want to be overbearing or overly concerned. He is young - late 30's. His heart is very strong. None of the tests showed any abnormalities. The doctors were stifled and could only really come up with excessive caffeine products. So out they all go...and we hope it does not happen again for 20+ years
I have gone back and read older threads. Do I want to "ask" him to hold back his training? Is there a chance that tren or dbol could put a heart out of rhythm or is this really a fluke that happened? If I am afraid, obviously it will roll over in how I react with him or around him, especially at the gym. Fear is a killer all in its own. I want to be supportive but also informed.

Never heard of steroids causing this. Stimulants are a possibility, especially cocaine, meth, etc. Testosterone and it's derivatives do not affect the heart in this manner. You may want to find out Exactly what he was on...

Sorry to hear about your better half. Glad he's okay though. I would be curious as to what he was taking and if there was some type of reaction. Did the doctors know he's on AAS? Did they give you anymore information besides cutting out caffeine?

completely clean blood work (they definitely checked for drugs) and a very strong heart - no abnormalities discovered. That evening I believe the pre-gym drink was methyl-efx. We gave the doctors all of the supplements and names so they could research what is in them. They drew the line at anything with a stimulant of any kind in it. They said cardio or lifting was not what pushed his heart over the edge. He did admit to me that he was feeling "off" before we got to the gym that evening. I definitely nagged about monster energy drinks and the amount of caffeine type products used for the added work out boost. This was a wake up call. Everything like that in the trash and decaf coffee for both of us this morning. I will change my habits to support him. Too late is never worth it.
I know he wants to continue his cycle, and what I have read doesn't concern me now as much as the stimulant powders/drinks. I appreciate all comments and information. It can only help me understand and support him more.

Wow Allison,

that must have been very scary for both of u, I woud tell him to go do a complete physical, and complete blood pannel, just to make sure everything is ok..

Definitely cut off all the pre-work out drinks & stims (including coffee), I thik your doing the right thing by being concerned, it's normal..
Keep supporting him, but if you see he's overdoing himself, talk to him about it, I'm sure he will appreciate it..
as much as he wants to achieve his goals & as much committed as he might be, his health comes first...

Good luck 2 u guys :)

The two guys that I knew this happened to (both in their early twenties) were both coke users. Now I am not saying he was on coke, but stimulants are prob the source of this. But hey that os just a guess, I am not a doc.

I have been through the drug scene and unless it is something that exhibits nothing to an outside observer, as well as coming up negative under all the blood work they did over the three days in the hospital, it isn't that. I joke with my sons that I doubt there is anything they could find and do that I wouldn't be able to read their appearance and know something isn't right. In this case, I can safely say no coke or meth or other drug. There wouldn't have been time or chance to take anything to counter the tests at the hospital either.

I can 100% understand why that would be a concern. Many of us have seen things we wish we could forget and have lost many loved ones to drugs. It isn't pretty.

He drank a massive amount of the methyl-efx, and it had been in the house for quite some time - possible settled and separated. It was within 10 minutes of the drink that his heart rate increased and he felt it skip and change rhythm. He told me that evening he was having a hard time with breathing but did not mention his heart. He thought if he rested it would convert to normal. We waited 12 hours before he admitted what was happening with his heart. Needless to say, I was slightly perturbed.

Hey Mrs. P,
Methyl EFX has 1795 mg's of caffeine and a shit ton of stimulants as well. I do not take drugs, drink or eat high fat diet. My BP was 127/79 and my HR was going from around 70 bpm to 165 to +200 bpm every 15 seconds. My heart and cardio are in perfect condition. I passed a nuclear chemical stress test which pushed my hr and cardio and O2 sat out of normal ranges, and I stayed in sinus rhythm. The cardiologist group studied an EKG and ultrasound of my heart while under stress and without stress... all good, a perfect heart they said. They also said they had never seen a person my age go into atrial defibrillation. Just some background info...

Needless to say, it was an eye-opening experience. I recommend to any exercise enthusiasts and/or those choosing to use AAS, be careful taking stimulants. ECA stacks, NO2 boosts, Creatine w/ caffiene, these products are not regulated by any type of QC such as an FDA, so dosages on labels are not always going to be accurate. Even if the dosages are accurate, one doesn't know when the body might say enough is enough.

Anybody taking Clen... throw that shit away. Just my .02. Thank you.

Wow, that's a lot of caffeine. IMO clen's benefits are not worth it's sides, everyone definitely monitor how they react to stims.

Glad your doing better :)
