Another option for androgen induced acne...

All:

There are many threads floating around here about acne.

I've mentioned before that a 5-AR inhibtor works well for me to control my androgen related acne. However, I know this is not an option for everyone.

My long-time training partner is running a heavy test cycle now and is really getting hit hard with acne.

While this is nothing new for him, I finally sent him to my dermatologist. My dermatologist prescribed a product that is a combination of the antibiotic Clindamycin and benzoyl peroxide.

He has been using the topical product for about 4 weeks now and his acne has improved 100%. If fact, it is almost total gone! This has occurred while he is running 800 mg of test per week.

For those of you suffering androgen induced acne, talk to your dermatologist about the combination product of Clindamycin and benzoyl peroxide.

In one case of really bad acne, I've seen some great results!

I also have read a couple of peer reviewed studies that showed strong results in large test groups.

Regards.

More good advice for the "TEAM" from CASHOUT, that can definitely be annoying to all of our HRT/TRT minded bros that may have acne issues. With the advice that cashout is always good for, all we are waiting for now is him to "JOIN THE MAXIMUS TEAM" and start flying the flag high! We appreciate ALL the great bites of advice we can get from experienced, former competitors like you! Wave the banner, dammit!

What's the name of the product?

BenzaClin is the combination topical gel he is using.

You can get a generic Clindamycin and benzoyl but they come in separate topical solution and you have to apply the benzoyl first and the Clindamycin second.

Is this applied to the acne or to the whole back and shoulders as a preventive

It works directly on the acne itself.

The antibiotic works by destroying the ribosomes in the bacteria and eliminating the bacteria's ability to synthesize protein and create infection. The benzoyl peroxide acts as an accelarent to facilitate the antibiotic's penetrating ability to get deep into the skin.

My partner had it so bad 4 weeks ago that he was applying the product to his entire back. After 4 weeks of using it that way, he is only spot treating a couple of areas now where the acne is popping up. The rest of his back is total clear now.

For what it is worth, when I was a teenager, I had acne so bad that I had to use accutane to get rid of it.

Before that I tried every topical treatment available with no success at all.

I used all kinds of antibiotics and not a one of them did a damn thing to curb my acne.

This antibiotic is pretty different because of the way it works. As I mentioned, it destroys the ribosomes of the bacteria. That is really a different approach to most traditional antibiotics.

Clindamycin was just approved by the FDA for topical in 2001. There are a lot of MDs who still don't know much about it or how/when to prescribe it for acne treatment.

Is he on thepill, cream, the gel, the foam or the suppository? LOL

there are a bunch of ways to use this product, would like to know what he is having the success with

Gel - applies it to back 2x daily. It dries pretty quickly, doesn't stink, or stain clothes from what he has said.

Hey Cash, did your partner also take Acnetame during this outbreak? If so, what results did he get?

No he did not use anything prior to Benzaclin.

His acne was so bad at one point I finally said "Dude, you need to get off your cycle or got to my dermatologist and get on some accutane to clear up this problem."

I got him an appointment for the next day and he told her exactly what he was doing - 800 mg of test cyp a week.

He said she didn't even flinch when he told her! She looked at him and said, "I've seen this plenty of times before with you guys who use steroids. This should help" and she handed him a script for 4 bottles of Benzaclin.

That was almost 6 weeks ago now and he is still running 800 mgs of test with nothing but a couple of dark spots left from where there were once big nasty cystic zits.

I have really been shocked at how well this stuff has worked especially given my experiences with topical treatments back in the 80s that never did a damn thing.

I went to a dermatoligist yesterday and just got Cendomysin(Bezaclim), I will report on any progress.
I am going to use it 1x per day (per dr.)
Also with some antibiotics 2x per day

she said if no significant improvements in the next 2 months, She suggests.....accutane. yeah I am that bad.

Also, the benzoylperoxide stuff will bleach out your clothes, even the over the counter washes will, just a FYI.

Good for you - hope you have the kind of success that my partner has shown.

Man, his back looked 100% better in less than a month. It was like night and day and he's still running 800 mg of test a week.

He hasn't told me about any issue with it bleaching his clothes but he is using it 2x a day.

Regards

Saw the pics. Glad you got some help with that. I know it can be a real embarrassment.

If you can imagine, my workout partner's acne was way worse than yours and I'd say yours was about a 8 on a 10 point scale.

Keep us posted on your progress.

Regards.
