I have to admit, when I tried it I liked it. For a changeup I'm going to give it a go again.

Feel free to add your thoughts.

I wouldn't think at your level your body would tolerate it. Squat and do deads 3x a week?? No way for me. I have well over 500 questionnaires from people about what worked and what didn't work for them and in the what didn't work column, HST is right up there next to Arnold type 6 day a week routines for failure rate except for newbies that often do OK on it.

Not for me, but all that matters is what works for the individual. I do know that if I trained my clients using it I would be out of biz in about 2 months:D

It reduces the workload greatly though per workout, last time I did it seriously was July 2002 and things were different back then. ;)

My left arm was bothering me badly during week #5 and I had to cut it short, so if anything on my body complained it was definitely that.

I grew on HST really well. If all you are looking for is growth, then it's great, provided you actually understand what you are doing and realize that HST is not a workout routine, but rather a set of principles that you apply to your workouts. A lot of people seem to think that HST is the sample routine provided on the site and that you must follow the whole 15/10/5 rep scheme, etc etc, which is wrong. The only thing you must do with HST is increased frequency over traditional programs, so that you are hitting each muscle at least thrice a week, progressively increasing the load, and taking an SD every so often.

I will admit, the strength gains were very paltry, especially compared to what I gained on 5 x 5. Still, I will likely continue to do an HST cycle a few times a year... the negatives really cause a lot of growth, in my experience. Heavy eccentric chinups are what caused my lats to blow up.

I saw a guy working on a DC/HST hybrid that looked pretty interesting...

The HS Forums are very informative. The FAQ section especially.

I love HST but right now I am going strictly for strength.
