whoa...what the hell. No I wasn't disrespecting anyone, chill out. But first, yes, I am a mod, have been for years, and I wasn't flaming anyone. You don't know what flaming is if you think that I did that. I wasn't attacking anyone personally, I was stating an opinion on attitudes. Here's what I'm saying:
Bodybuilders - those who want to build their "body" (i.e. increase muscle mass and definition). Meaning, these are the guys that are trying to be huge, this is their goal. They eat for it, they train for it, they use drugs for it, they put themselves through hell for it.
Powerlifters - those who want to increase "strength." Huge difference in goals here. The powerlifters in my gym are some of the best in the country and literally every night they walk in the gym with 4-6 big macs each. Strong as hell, look like shit and don't care, because it is not their personal goal. I respect that.
The problem comes in when those guys sitting at around 40% bf think they are so "huge" because they can lift obscene amounts of weight. Lifting weight doesn't make anyone huge. That's the exact same as a ripped bodybuilder, who doesn't train for strength thinking he is extremely powerful only because he is ripped. Looks stupid right? 90% of powerlifters are not big in my opinion, they are fat. Also, 99% of that 90% don't give a shit if they are fat, that's not their concern, just as it isn't my concern how much weight I lift. You can call me weak all day, I don't care, my interest is in aesthetics. One of my best friends is 380 lbs, extremely gifted powerlifter. He calls himself fat all the time but all he cares about is getting that weight up.
You guys be strong, leave the being "huge" part to bodybuilders.
