Back Injury??? Please help!!

Hey all, just wondering if anyone else has hurt their back like this...

Ok, so I go to do my 5x5 of deads. I do 1 w/u set of 135 for 10 reps.... I load up-20lb's heavier than last week- with 265(Hey I just started deads :nerd: ) Anyway, opn my first rep, I get a sharp pain in the middle of my back just to the right of my spine. Not sure what the hell I did but I know I couldn't do more. anyway, I continue my back/bi work out and just go super light on deads(135) for alot of reps(10-15). No more pain, but i didn't want to push it. Anyway, I get in my car, sit down and as I go to buckle up, I look down(putting my chin into the middle/top of my chest) and I feel the pain again, Identical to when I did my first dead. Funny thing is that it doesn't feel muscular, almost like it's in my lungs because it's difficut to breathe when tilt my head forward putting my chin into my chest as if I'm looking down. Any ideas guys? I hate time off from the gym...I feel like i'm regressing...Has anyone ever had this before? It's like it's right near my lungs. Well, at least it's not lower back related. That would be bad....

Any thoughts? how much time off should I take from deads? Should I continue with the rest of my work outs?

I'd say it would be somewhere near your ribs, dude! had the same thing once...didn't mind the pain and kept stretching and pulling it everyday. also kept lifting and it just went poof. I dunno but ya may want to see a doctor about it. and yes, it's very annoying.
 
you need to warm up better
if youre working weight is 265
youll need to do a few sets before jumping right into it
you may be better off doing
135 x5
135x5
185x3
225x1
265 work sets
 
It might be what I got from cleans. A sciatic nerve pinch. Its still btohering me after over a month.

im about at the same weight, do you suggest warmups like that for everyone/everytime or just because of the injury?

i usually do a light warmup set if 155 x10... but thats it, no good?
 
I dont know about ur injury but i injured my back last week doing strongman training. Felt like a pinched nerve at the time, but later that night after sittin on my ass, i couldnt move, the pains localised on my left lower lat, kinda like pain in my lung or ribs even. couldnt bend over, arch my back even taking a piss it felt like my back mucles were in spasms and pulling. 10 days later and i still cant train and im havin trouble sleeping with the pain.

Look up a trigger point therapist in your area, it's a specialized kind of massage therapist. Look under RMT's in the phone book. Or read up on it yourself, get the book The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook(it's on amazon).

Thanks for the tips guys...back pain is gone but only to be replaced by a pinched nerve in my neck....I guess that's the iron game....

I had that prob just take a week off.
 
I would have to take a close look at my dead form especially if i was just starting out. i don't know if form is a problem for you, but if it is it sure can cause a back issue.
 
My sciatic nerve pinch is still btohering me after a month. I got it from cleans so whenever I do cleans and deads(both on same day of routine) the next day my back feels like shit. Its been like this as I said for over a month and it sucks. When I run and stretch it feels a lot better until I get even more soreness. Whats good for this type of injury?

how do you know you pinched your sciatic nerve?
Take my advice above it'll probably make a world of difference, the lowerback is a mess of muscles so I can't really suggest exactly which coudl be causing the pain you are having(without more details).
